Can You Have A Period On Lybrel Birth Control? I would rather have a period using Lybrel than not - just to reassure myself that I'm not pregnant. Can I take Lybrel for the 21 - 28 day cycle, quit and have a period and then resume the birth control? Also, do I need additional birth control during the first 7 days again, or is it going to protect against pregnancy immediately again? Many thanks!
How long will it take for me to get pregnant after I stop taking the birth control Lybrel? I'm currently taking the birth control Lybrel and my husband and I want to have a baby, how long do you think it will take for me to get pregnant after I stop taking Lybrel?
Lybrel birth control and upper respiratory infections? Does anyone know what it is about Lybrel that makes one more prone to upper respiratory infections? I can't seem to find the answer elsewhere. Thanks!
Lybrel birth control pills and upper respiratory infections? It says on the website and in the patient pamphlet that Lybrel can make you more prone to upper respiratory infections (it was one of the more commonly reported side effects in clinical trials), but it does not state anywhere what it is about Lybrel that can cause you get the infection. Does anyone know how Lybrel causes this?
Is there a generic for lybrel birth control? This is the first time I'm taking this brand, and when I went to pick it up I was shocked. I have good insurance and it was still $40. I know that's not as bad as it could be, but I'm use to $10-$12. Anyway I was wondering if there was a generic and can I just request it from now on?
Any of you ever tried Lybrel birth control? it is one of the new ones that keep you from having your mens. cycle every month.... i just finished my first month of them and i have been on my cycle for the last 7 days...not just "break through" bleeding as they say may occur, but the real deal, maybe worse....... is this normal for the first month?

Anyone taking the new birth control pill Lybrel and experiencing weight gain & fatigue? I have been on it for about 8 weeks now. No spotting, no period but I have pregnancy symptoms. I am a little afraid to take a test but wondered if anyone else had side effects from this pill.
Has anyone taken the birth control pill Lybrel? If so, is it any good? I've been on the Depo shot here for about 5 years and was told not to stay on it any longer than 5 years, to maybe take a breather. Anyway, I've gotten SO used to NOT having periods and was told of this pill Lybrel that stops periods as well as it gives less hormones than what other contraceptives would. Any input on this?
Does anybody know the release date for Lybrel (birth control pill that eliminates periods)? I heard on the news last night that the FDA is set to approve in the next week or two.
Switching Birth Control, from Lybrel to Ortho Cyclen.? I was taking Lybrel, a birth control where u do not have a period. I switched to Ortho Cyclen and the pharmacist told me to wait and switch on the first day of my period.. well I don't have a period with Lybrel. I have tried calling him back but he is on vacation. I started the Ortho Cyclen on Sunday, not the first day of my period. Will I be okay?
Is it healthy for a woman to stop her period with Lybrel (birth control)? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/new_birth_control;_ylt=Ag2CDdKDKgWP.WveZkjFl1nq188F
General Questions about taking Lybrel birth control pill? I have been taking Lybrel for 3 months and it seems that I am experiencing a wide array of side effects. Prior to taking Lybrel, I had been taking Ortho-Tri Lo for 4 months. My reason for taking B.C. pills is because my periods had been getting increasingly worse over the past year (my doc thinks I have endometriosis), which essentially made life unbearable for 1 week every month. Going to work was even a challenge during period week. Unfortunatley, I became very moody on the Ortho-Tri pill, as my body seemed to react to each dosage change that happens weekly. Lybrel has brought on different issues: 1) I had spotting for 4 weeks straight during the 2nd month of taking it. 2) After the 4 weeks of spotting, I had an actual 6 day period (luckily the last 3 weeks have been fine). 3) I started exercising vigorously and limiting calories 7 weeks ago and I have only lost 1 pound. A year ago I did the same regimen and lost 20 lbs. Anyone out there having the same experience?
Am I having a serious side effect to the birth control pill LYBREL? I"ve been having really bad headaches and my calf has been hurting alot i was thinking maybe a blood clot but how do u know if it is? been dizzy, light headed and no energy what so ever just been feeling weird i have been on the pill now for 4mths
Anyone who is on birth control (Lybrel preferably but not necessary?)? What did you have to do to get a prescription? Did you have to have a pelvic exam, or did you just have to answer a bunch of questions? What kind of questions did the doctor ask? Do you think I can get a prescription since I'm only 14? I heard that you have to start taking it (Lybrel) while you're on your period. Is that true? Any other helpful info would be appreciated too. Thanks! I'm not going on birth control because I'm having sex (I'm not). I'm only going on it to stop my periods so I'm not so self-concious about them when I'm at school.

Birth Control Question..new pill out called Lybrel?? I was online today and saw a pop up for a new birth control pill called Lybrel. After reading about it I guess you take the pill everyday for 365 days no placebo pill or non active pills (so no period) and you can skip your period for as long as you take the pill. Does anyone else seem to think it is not healthy to skip your period for six months or even a year. I would assume your body would need that or why else do you have them. Let me know your thoughts on it. Thank you in advance.
birth control question... lybrel? hi im 16 and my doctor put me on lybrel because i have irregular periods, any advice or your input on lybrel.
How long does breakthrough bleeding last on the new Birth Control Pill, Lybrel?? I was put on BCP because my period would not become regular. I would bleed all the time. My OBGYN said I should either get on BCP for 3 monthes or have a D and C. I don't think the D and C would have worked because I would occasionally stop bleeding. So, my doctor gave me these new pills called Lybrel. When I first got on them, I pretty much stopped bleeding. I have been on them for going on 3 weeks. I started bleeding again, although it is pretty light and seems to be old blood. It freaked me out at first, but then I looked up info on the pills and everything said that most women experience breakthrough bleeding, especially in the beginning. My question is, has anyone else tried these new BCPs? Did you have breakthrough bleeding? How long did it last? -Thank you!
ladies, r u willing to take the risk's associated with Lybrel, the new birth control? the new one thats supposed to make your period go away. They haven't really done thurough testing on it. Are you gonna risk possible side effects, just to eliminate that "time of the month"? Shouldnt' you wait, just to be safe? H.B.I.C.---I've heard about that seasonal one too. But they are saying that you can even still get pregnant. So what could it do to a baby?
Does keeping birth control pills in the refrigerator really preserve their effectiveness? I was reading an article about how you shouldn't store any kind of birth control in extreme heat, which I already knew. But it also said that if you take a birth control pill like seasonle or lybrel where you buy a three or more months supply of pills each time, you should store them in the frig to keep them effective. Has anyone ever heard this from a reliable source?
Can birth control pills cause back pain? I recently started taking Lybrel and kind of have an achy lower back. It's more of a pressure sensation - my lower back feels like it's full of air or something - but it's very uncomfortable. Could the birth control pills be causing this?
What kind of birth control is best? I was on Ortho-Cyclen for 10 years and never had a problem with it. I have been off birth control for about 8 years now but want to go back on. I am going to go with Ortho-Cyclen again but I would like to hear anyone's input on it, what they have tried, wether they liked it or not, gained weight, had any problems. I know I don't want to try Lybrel or Seasonique because they have had serious problems with them.
Do you have any thoughts on the Birth Control Pill that stops periods completely? "WASHINGTON -- The first birth-control pill meant to put a stop to women's monthly periods indefinitely has won federal approval, the manufacturer said Tuesday. Called Lybrel, it's the first such pill to receive Food and Drug Administration approval for continuous use. When taken daily, the pill can halt women's menstrual periods indefinitely and prevent pregnancies. It's the latest approved oral contraceptive to depart from the 21-days-on, seven-days-off regimen that had been standard since birth-control pill sales began in the 1960s. The Wyeth pill is the first designed to put off periods altogether when taken without a break. Click here to find out more! Some women raise concerns about whether blocking periods is safe or natural. But most doctors say there's no medical reason women need monthly bleeding. It can also trigger health problems from anemia to epilepsy in many women." Any thoughts? I don't think that's safe! Where will all of that endometrial lining end up? Eww...
What do you think about menstrual suppression with birth control pills? There are some pills like Seasonale and Lybrel, wich are giving women the possibility of having no more periods. Did someone has used them or has an opinion about it?
How often do you spot/bleed on birth control? I recently started the pill Lybrel and a week and a half ago I spotted a little. Now I am bleeding like a normal period, is this normal? If anyone knows about lybrel or has taken lybrel before any information would be greatly appreciated.
Can switching birth control pills cause constipation? I recently switched from Seasonale to Lybrel, which the doctor informed me had lower levels of hormones or...well...whatever is in the pills. XD I'm wondering if this can cause constipation.
Birth control... 16 year old? I'm 16 & 2 weeks ago i started the birth control pill called Lybrel. I have been reading on this pill, i did not know that this pill was designed to eliminate my periods completely. My doctor did not talk about the pill at all whatsoever with me, she just gave them to me in a bag and told me to try them & call her back in 2 weeks. Well it's been 2 weeks and i don't know what to think. My period has not gone away, i've been on it for the whole 2 weeks. It's gross chunky brown blood. My forehead is breaking out in pimples, which i NEVER get, i have perfect skin. And i've read that babies have a high chance of being born with birth defects due to girls taking this pill. Should i stop taking it? I'm so angry with everything it has done to me so far!! Also, is the risk really that high of having babies with birth defects? That's my main concern..
My girlfriend missed her birth control pill 2 days ago, but didn't realize it until today? She didn't take her pill 2 nights ago, took one yesterday, and tonight realized that she had missed one 2 days ago.. We had sex both yesterday and the day before. She's taking Lybrel. The website doesn't have anything about this scenario. What should we do? We're going to call her doctor tomorrow as soon as we can. But should we be worried?
question about Lybrel? Okay, i saw someone had asked this question, but got no answers. So my question is...has anyone that has used the birth control Lybrel increased in breast size? Some birth control works with some people and some it doesnt. Im on the birth control and i just started this week and was just wondering if it has any impact. thanks everyone!
Anyone know when Lybrel is coming out? Does anyone know when the no-period birth control pill Lybrel is coming out? I already searched it, and I haven't found anything. I was wondering if there are any doctors or pharmacists here that might have heard. I know you can skip a period with regular birth control pills by skipping the last week, but my insurance won't cover that.
birth control question? I started taking Lybrel about a week and a half ago and I've been having headaches on a regular basis ever since. Has anyone else taken Lybrel and went through it or had any other side effects I'm trying to figure out if it might be a good idea to switch my birth control pill I can't stand having headaches on a regular basis.
can you get pregnant while taking birth control? Im taking lybrel and my boyfriend ejculates in me . and i dont want to get pregnant just wondering if its possible. my b**** hurt but they always do
About birth control. Figuring out which to get...? My last birth went wacky on me. I am off for this month because I thought I was pregnant.. I am off this month till my next period. I am not pregnant the test came negative if blood test. Then I thought my birth control pills. I had earlier about seasonique someone said it not out yet or something but I found it online. Which you get your period 4 times a year.. I would love that... Also I found lybrel and don't get a period all year long. Anyone of you used this or give me something else I can look at. I have no problem taking pills and I do remember. I take them same time with my heartburn medicine and my bipolar medicine. I am in no hurry to have sex. I be busy and I am single. I just been having some period problem that they never come in time. And I get really bad cramps so that why I am taking birth control I know they are coming.. I have kids that love to swim. Thanks.. I am 26 year old by the way..
Birth control...switching from the shot? I have been on the Depo shot for almost 7 years. I want to get off of it for many reasons, but I have been so out of the birth control loop that I am not sur ewhat would be a good pill. I have seen Yaz, Seasonal, and Lybrel. Does anyone have any suggestions? I may be possibly looking into have kids in a few years and that is my main reason to stop the shot now but I don't want to completely stop birth control. Thanks! no but i will be having a bone density test done...that is another main reason to get off of it...
Why is getting a pelvic exam required when going on birth control? Seriouly. When I was about to start college I went to planned parenthood and they let me get on some 1 year thing where i could get birth control w/o the exam(because i'm not sexually active). but where i went to college they didn't have a planned parenthood and they wouldn't give me my birth control w/o getting the exam...so i did. And omg it HURT!!!! I cried and when i got back to my dorm room i took a shower and lay curled in bed for the rest of the day. Its been over a year since i had that exam and now i have to get another one so i can start birth control again. The reason I want the birth control is because of my crazy heavy periods. I'm about to turn 20 and I'm not sexually active, nor have I ever been sexually active. I do NOT want to go through the pain of another exam but I really don't want to deal with my heavy(and long) periods. Grrr....I really want to try the Lybrel thing(the one thats supposed to make your periods go away).I really don't know what to do.
Did birth control make your boobs bigger? Ok, I'm currently taking LYBREL, which is great because I can choose not to have my period and everything, but I'm wondering if it will make my boobs bigger. I used the Patch and it didn't help but I was only on it for two months. My twin sister has been using YAZ for about a year on and off, and within a few months she noticed an increase of about a half a cup size, more now. Anyway, I know because of extra estrogen and a possible weight gain that birth control can make your boobs bigger. So, girls, what birth control are you on and did it make them any bigger?
What is the best birth control pill? I am currently switching to Lutera.? I am on ortho tricyclen lo so far, I like it because it is well known, and it has helped my skin and i havent gained weight. It has made me a little nauseas though so I have been switched to lutera, I have never even heard of it so I was wondering if anyone could tell me their experience with Lutera, or a better birth control pill to switch to, I was thinking of yaz or seasonale. I would love not to have my period every month, so Lybrel didnt seem so bad either. Someone let me know what they think please. besides abstinence.I am trying to be serious and get some serious advice on birth control pills.
when is it affective to start Lybrel? my doctor told me i would have to wait till after a get my one year papsmear before i start taking any birth control pill! So if i wanted to start taking Lybrel would it still work if i start it two weeks after my period? or will i still get my period because its not the sunday after my period?
Going on Honeymoon. Want to quit my Lybrel B.C. but how do I not have my period while Im there? Im getting married in Jamaica in April. Less than 3 months away. My period is due the same time we are getting married. I have really, really painfull awful periods and I don't want to go through that while we are in paradise. I started taking the birth control pill Lybrel about a month ago, which makes your period go away all together. But... I am moody all the time and I have cramps all the time and I have absolutely NO sex drive. I hate this pill and want to stop taking it, but feel that I need it so I won't menstruate in Jamaica. I considered the depo shot, but I want to get pregnant around June and don't want to risk that... I have read some similar questions and some have mentioned a pill the doctor gives you that will temporarily stop your period. Can anyone tell me what this is called? And maybe how it works? I hate Lybrel and really want to quit it, but don't want to risk a period on my wedding/honeymoon.... Thanks in advance for your help.
Could I be pregnant? Okay. I’ve been taking the Lybrel birth control pill. An sometimes I take them like an hour late because I get caught up at work. For the past 3 days after I eat my stomach hasn’t been feeling normal. I’ve also been getting little headaches, and have a little trouble falling asleep. Could I be Pregnant?
Am I pregnant? I have been on Lybrel (birth control pill that eliminates your period all together) and I haven't taken my pills for a couple of weeks because they are so expensive and I can't afford them. So I have been having my period. I had sex, without protection, and we used the "pull-out" method. I'm 17 and I had gotten pregnant once before while taking Lybrel.
can i be pregnant.? Okay. I’ve been taking the Lybrel birth control pill. An sometimes I take them like an hour late because I get caught up at work. I also had forgotten to take my bc two days in a row, the thrid day i had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. Then got back on track takin my bc control on time since then. For the past 4 days after I eat my stomach hasn’t been feeling normal. I’ve also been getting little headaches, and i get at least 8 hrs of sleep a day but by 4 or 5 in the afternoon i'm very sleepy. Could I be Pregnant?
can you......bc? Can you get the birth control Lybrel in Kentucky without your parents consent? I don't want it so i can have sex i just want it so i won't have a monthly period.
Does Lybrel? I heard that birth control can make your breasts larger, i know it might not be true. I have Lybrel and was wondering if any women on here have grown a cup or 1/2 a cup using this pill? thanks alot!
About My Period (girls only please)? I started my period last saturday and i still have it. Ive had it for ten days tomorrow. Is that bad? I mean i'm on Lybrel (a birth control) that stops you from having your period. I'm so confused please help me out.
I think I have endometriosis. Would taking a period suppressing pill like Lybrel be a safe option for that? My mother had emdometriosis until her hysterectomy. I have cramps that feel like someone is scraping the inside of my body and I feel like they are getting increasingly worse with each period. My periods are irregular and inconsistent. I also can't remember the last time I had a bowel movement that didn't hurt or bring about bleeding or blood in the stool. I got my first period when I was 14 and with it were cramps, I'm 19 now and have never been to a gynecologist to be checked. I'm not sexually active. I've gotten to the point where I want my period to go away and never come back and have done some research on Lybrel, which takes your period away, but there is no information on the effects of Lybrel on Endometeriosis. I'd appreciate any advice I can get on this subject because I'm really afraid to take birth control from all the horror stories I've heard about it. I'm also afraid to go to the gynecologist because I've never been to one before and I don't know what to ask.
Does a woman stopping her periods indefinitely sound healthy? Here's the article: WASHINGTON - A new birth-control pill can halt women's menstrual periods indefinitely. Called Lybrel, the pill is expected to win Food and Drug Administration approval Tuesday, becoming the latest approved oral contraceptive to depart from the traditional 21-days-on, seven-days-off regimen that has been standard since first birth control pills were sold in the 1960s. But the Wyeth pill is the first designed to be taken continuously. Lybrel contains the lowest dose of two hormones widely used in birth-control pills, ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel. Taking the pill daily would let women suppress their monthly bleeding indefinitely. However, unanticipated breakthrough bleeding may occur in some women. ____________________ Does this seem scary to you??? Do the pharmaceutical companies have a woman's best interest in mind? How do we know this won't cause a host of cancers down the line? Hope those of you on Depo are getting bone density scans on a regular basis. A broken hip from osteoporosis is practically a death sentence.
Does anybody know when the? new birth control pill (LYBREL) will hit the market? It is suppose to stop your mentstral cycle. I have endometriosis! I have it bad. I had to have surgery two weeks ago and I think this pill could help me! The medicine they want me to take is Lupron it will cost me 1,400! The doctor told me I could never have any other children so I won't have to worry about that! I am just tired of hurting! THANK YOU GUYS FOR ANSWERING!
Is not having a period bad? I take birth control called Lybrel and I specifically asked for this certain kind because I didn't want to have a period at all, but when I discuss this with my friends some freak out saying that the period is a cleansing and I absolutely need it! Well if i needed it why would they even make birth control that stops your menstrual cycle?? I wan't to know what you have heard about needing or not needing a period it can be facts or just what you have heard all opinions having to do with the PERIOD and not my morals are welcome! in reply to chelsea I asked your opinion on the period okay? not about birth control I KNOW WHAT BIRTH CONTROL IS and i already read your lame story in reply to that 15 year old and i have to say if that was true they wouldnt allow doctors to prescribe anything that at least HELPS the menstrual cycle you should probably go lay down and get off the comp if your having such terrible pain right now i asked for opinions on the period not a moody recount on birth control
is lybrel as safe as seasonale? and other birth controls healthwise and for pregnancy protection? Thanks
Could I be pregnant? I had a baby 3 months ago and since then I started taking a birth control pill called lybrel. Now my period has been on for 2 weeks
I have started two different kinds of meds's just this month? lybrel- which is a type of birth control that stops your mens cyl from occuring each month and limbrel - which is a anti inflamatory for my back my mood has been terrible and my sex drive gone... do you think it could be one of these meds? oh, and yes, i have left a message for my doctor, thought i would get your answers while i wait on her call. if i were to stop taking the birth control, is there another way to make sure im not on my cycle during my wedding/honeymoon?
Why are women so weird about menstrual suppression? I honestly don't undertstand this. I mean, when Seasonale came out and now that Lybrel is out, you'd think everyone would be celebrating. A period, aside from childbirth, is the WORST part about being female. Its an entire week every month of bleeding, cramps, bloating, fatigue, pms, and all that other lovely stuff and now that there is a way to end that, no one wants to try it! I mean, sure I was skeptical at first about the health risks, but I asked my gynecologist about it and she explained that when you're on birth control, you're not even having a real period! It's just bleeding as a side effect from hormone withdrawl and there is absolutley NO reason to have it every month. You can safely try it with ANY birth control (as women have been doing since the pill fist came out, and there's no reported problems) and still get a period as soon as you get off it. Yeah, periods are a natural fact of life, but they're absolutley horrible and since there's a safe way to stop them, why not? lynn, you could go to a planned parenthood or the local health clinic and get it free. my friend debbie does that WHO CARES if you're messing with mother nature? she's been messing with ME for the past six years! just cause it's "natural" doesn't mean you should have to deal with it! i've been on seasonale for two years, and yeah i've had spotting. but after your body get used to it, you have no more spotting and you're happily period-free! it's worth it
Does My Mom Have To Be There? So I have an appt. to get on birth control pills tomorrow morning. I'm really wanting Lybrel, but does my mom have to be in the room with me at all? Cause I really don't want her there. For some more info, I'm 17 and live in Texas. My mom knows I'm sexually active, so it's not a matter of keeping something from her. I just don't feel comfortable having her there with me.
Pressure in my lower back from gas/flatulence that just won't go away. What could be the cause?!? Bit of a long story. About five weeks ago I had a bout with stubborn constipation that started about two weeks before my period. I took Miralax for a while as well as Benefiber, and I'm 90% certain I'm finally back to normal. About a week ago I switched to Citrucel tablets, as they said it didn't cause any gas. Since my constipation I had been experiencing increased gas and the sensation that I had to pass gas but couldn't, which was centered in my lower back. It's a feeling of uncomfortable pressure. Unfortunately, this pressure sensation just doesn't want to go away. I'm still taking Citrucel as I (A) get very little fiber in my diet and (B) was NEVER very regular and (C) have internal hemorrhoids from my constipation struggle (I strained, not realizing I shouldn't). I also switched to a new birth control pill (went from Seasonale to Lybrel, which lets you never have a period). I'm wondering if any of these things could be causing the problem? I feel pretty lost...it stinks. It may be important to note that Lybrel contains lower amounts of hormones than the previous bc pill I was taking, Seasonale, and that I have experienced two incidents of spotting since I've started Lybrel. I'm also having on and off nausea which may be related to Lybrel, since that is a very common symptom. Riiight. I did think of that. But its been, like, 3-4 weeks now.
Would stopping the menstrual cycle end the PMDD symptoms I deal with half the month? I have PMDD, I was on Yasmin but the migraines were killer. I took Ortho Tri Cyclen, got pregnant on it, tried Seasonale and only had erratic spotting. Usually the pill gives me weight gain, headaches and kills the sex drive. So for the past 6 months I haven't been on anything. But now the PMDD is getting the best of me. I can be a monster and the cramps are so bad. I've dealt with this for the past 5 years (it wasn't as bad before but got severe 5 years ago) I have tried about all the birth controls out there, Depo, Lunelle, Nuva Ring and an IUD (which I wouldn't wish on anyone! That was AWFUL) So short of a hysterectomy, what else is there? I considered trying Yaz, I liked Yasmine except the headaches, and then I read about Lybrel, which is a 365 day pill that stops the period. So my question is without a period and menstrual cycle would the cramps etc get better or just build up until they are released when I decide to have a period???
What female contraceptive pills and yeast infection medications are available for sale in India? Hi! I'm an American who will be moving to India long-term after marrying my fiancee, who is an Indian citizen, and I need to know a few things about female health products avaliable there--primarily because we're not planning on having babies right away! First of all, what types of contraceptive/birth control pills will I be able to get? Here we have things like Loestrin, Yaz, Lybrel, and so on. They are perscription medications, and I don't have a problem seeing an Indian doctor to get something similar. Can you give me a few names of pills? Also, I suffer from frequent vaginal yeast infections, and I'm wondering if there are medications in India to treat them. Here the most popular thing we use is called Monostat (www.monistat.com) and I also take a natural supplement called AZO yeast. Thirdly, does anyone know if I can get Valtrex (www.valtrex.com) at any Indian pharmacies? Hope I've been specific enough! Thank you so much!
Is anyone besides me on Lybrel Birth Control? I have gained 8 lbs in the 3 months I have been on it and also have experienced alot of fatigue. Wondered if anyone else can tell me if they had side effects.
