Birth Control Methods Knowledge Base
What Are the Risks of Various (Medicinal) Birth Control Methods? I am currently on the Depo shot, which I get every three months. But I have been told by a friend that, if I'm on it too long, it can harm my ability to have children in the future. Since I'll be in college for at least another two years and want to start a career before I have a kid, I'll probably be on birth control for another two years or so. What is the safest method (patch, pill, or shot)? I already have my reservations about the patch (due to irritating side-effects my sister had) and the pill because I'm afraid I'll forget to take it. But, if I must, I'll give them a shot. Also, would it be a good idea to periodically switch up methods or something?
Looking for birth control methods for after delivery? After my last baby my ob put me on the Depo shot. I loved it! No menstrual cycle, no hassle, no missing pills.... However, after about 2 years, my family doctor would not administer the shot to any more of her patients due to the studies on permanent bone loss caused by it. I was disappointed because it was my preferred method of birth control. Has the information changed in regards to the danger of bone loss? If not, what are some alternative methods?
What are some good birth control methods for my situation? I am a mother of an 8 month old boy and I really don't want to get pregnant now. I breastfeed so I don't want a birth control that will dry up my milk and I don't want a B.C. that prevents the fertilized egg from implanting because I believe that life begins at the moment the sperm meets the egg. We are kinda trying the Natural Family Planning Method, but it is almost impossible for us to not have sex when I'm ovulating. We do use a condom when I am anywhere near that time, though.
Topamax and back up birth control methods? I am trying to decide whether or not to take topamax. My doctor prescribed it for weight loss but since it can make birth control less effective, he has suggested back up methods; i.e condoms. Has anyone tried this? I'd hate to lose weight, get pregnant, only to get fat again!
what are the best birth control methods? what are the best birth control methods that will protect me and in the same token won't make me gain too much weight or act so moody.. plzz help i've never used birth control before i have 2 kids already and i had a scare this month soo no more scares..lol plzz help.. thankx
Do all birth control methods involving hormones kill sex drive? They keep a woman from ovulating and studies show that is the strongest time when the woman is in "the mood". Is there birth control that doesn't stop ovulation. PS- I hate condoms. They smell and are uncomfortable and my husband doesn't like them either.
I'm sixteen and need to know the laws regarding birth control methods in Alabama? I know I can buy condoms, but is there anyway I can be put on a birth control pill, without having my parents consent or having them informed? P.S. Please, I don't need anyone to lecture me on my decisions. It's my body and I'm perfectly capable of making decisions regarding my own health. If I want or need input on any level other than medical and legal I have a mother and priest to go to.
How soon into starting birth control is it ok to stop using other birth control methods? I had began using Loestrin 24 FE and a week into the pills i had unpretected sex with my boyfriend. i know the doctors say to wait until you finish the whole pack before you can stop using additional birth control, but i wondered if thats just a window they give you or if its effective sooner than when the pack is done. I never said it was the smart thing to do. lol. and to answer a question from someone, both of us are our firsts. we went to high school together and i have validation from his family. we are both 23 and have been dating for 5 years.
How long does it take to start ovulating and "prepping" for pregnacy after being on birth control methods? I have been on both birth control pills and the depo shot for the past 4 years. When I talk to certain people, they say that it can take at least a couple of years to get a "normal" menstrual and ovulation cycle. However, I am getting my period every month like I am supposed to, is it still unlikely for me to get pregnant since I've been on BC for so long. Has anyone else experienced difficulties with having a child after being on BC??
Was anyone able to get pregnant the first month after stopping all birth control methods? I've been off my oral-contraceptives for 7 months. My husband and I use back-up (condoms) right now, as we are almost, but not quite ready to "try". Just curious about how easy it is going to be for me to get pregnant once we stop the back-up and just go for it! Is it likely to take a few months? I guess anything is possible. Did anyone else "try" this way and get pregnant the first month of no birth control? I just really wanna hit the jackpot that first TRY!
Best birth control methods after giving birth while breast-feeding? I'm currently about 36 weeks, due December 5th. After my daughter's born I do plan to breastfeed exclusively. Are there any birth control pills that are more highly recommended for breastfeeding mom's? I'm going in for another check-up on Tueseday and will be talking to my doctor about it also.
How do I switch birth control methods? Im trying to switch from Depo to the patch.? I am on Depo Provera and just got a prescription for the patch. I know that in most cases you are supposed to start using the patch the first day of your period, but now that I am on Depo I do not get periods anymore. I really need help trying to figure out when to start using the patch. Has anyone switched from Depo to the pill or patch? How did you do it? I am on Depo Provera and just got a prescription for the patch. I know that in most cases you are supposed to start using the patch the first day of your period, but now that I am on Depo I do not get periods anymore. I really need help trying to figure out when to start using the patch. Has anyone switched from Depo to the pill or patch? How did you do it? **I forgot to add. When I went to my doctor and asked her, she told me to start on the day that I would start my period. Another person told me to start on the day I would go in to get my next shot. When I asked my doctor how should I start since I dont get periods anymore she said to make an estimate. I have not had a period since January and even when I did have periods they were never very normal and ranged from 35-45 days.
What birth control methods don't use hormones? I've tried the patch, the pill, and the Depo shot, which all use hormones as a way to prevent pregnancy. All three of these methods give me nausea. So much so that it's difficult to function. Are there any other non-hormonal methods of BC besides the IUD or tubal ligation that are available for women?
What's up with stupid birth control methods?!? I keep seeiing these questions where people say they used all these stupid birth control methods and somehow got pregnant and I just don't get. Why would you put pizza sauce in your vagina instead of using a condom. It makes no sense! What are your thoughts? Also could someone explain to me how people heard about these ridiculous methods of birthcontrol and actually believed they would work?
What birth control method worked for you after you gave birth? I just want to know what worked for some women after you had your baby? I am looking around for birth control but want to know other opinions on different brands, methods, etc. Thank you I'm 33 and my husband and aren't having anymore. This our first (and last) together (he has 2 other teens) so I'm trying to get a head start by getting information. Yes. I plan to breastfeed for 6 months.
What is the best long term birth control method? My boyfriend and I have a very monogomous relationship (trust I am certain), therefore we dont always have protected sex. However, I've already been pregnant twice in the past. The first time I got pregnant because I wasnt on any birth control and the second time I was on a low-hormone pill. Even though the pill was use as directed I feel that the particular pill type mightve been too weak and thats why I ended up preggers, but the catch is that I can only consume low-doses of hormones in my system, so any regular pill is out of the question...they make my system go haywire. So, now I am looking at long term birth control methods like the IUD and others. Can someone please share their experiences with any of these? I dont want to have to worry about a pill everyday or worry about the chances of possibly being pregnant again. Also please note, that tying my ovarian tubes is NOT an option, I am too young for that. Notice that I did say that I did get pregnant twice before but I didnt say that I actually have any kids.
birth control methods? I am young and healthy, although I am still afraid to try some birth control methods. There are limited methods I can use while breastfeeding my 3-month old son, and I am just wondering what kinds of methods work well, if any, with limited side effects??
What Birth Control method does not decrease your sex drive? I have taken the pill for several years and have noticed a decrease in my sex drive quite a while ago. I started reading about it and everything indicates that the pill and medications for depression may decrease your sex drive, so I stopped taking it. Are all hormone related birth control methods (Patch, IUD, Shot, Ring, etc.) prone to cause the same effect?
Good birth control method besides the pill? I am currently 35 years old and married with a 1 year old son and we aren't planning any more children in the near future. Because of my age, it's about time for me to change birth control methods (currently using the pill). What are some good, EFFECTIVE forms of birth control? I do not want my tubes tied at this time. I have a Gyn apt next week but wanted to know of some practical experiences with other forms of birth control before my appointment.
long term birth control methods? Does anyone know of any healthy long term birth control methods that dont involve surgery. And what are the benefits of these methods.
Opinions on birth control methods? So...based off of experience...what do you guys think is the safest and more superior method of birth control? Withdrawal method or using condoms? I'm taking a poll for my class and would like some informed answers. Thank you.
Birth control methods besides the pill?? I was wanting to know about other birth control methods besides the pill? What are they and what are the advantages and disadvantages? I've heard of doctor implanting something in your arm and it's 99.9% effective? Anyone know anything about that?
birth control methods and facial hair? i want to ask that birth control methods can be the cause of facial hair. i had mirena around 4 months before and now i have notice some hair coming out on my chin area. please help .serious answers please
Can anyone recommend a birth control method that decreases anxiety? I've been on Ortho-TriCycline for 4 years, and as of 5-6 months ago I began having formless anxiety a few days before and a few days during my period. Could it have anything to do with my current birth control, and can anyone recommend a different method that might decrease the anxiety? i did start birth control because i was passing out from cramps, all you abstinence people.
What birth control method do you prefer? I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant and after I have my son, I want to go back on birth control. What type do you use and are you confident in its effectiveness? I was on the pill in the past, before I became pregnant, but am now considering Nuvaring or the shot this next time around... What is your preferred method?
Birth control? I just had a baby a month ago and I'm nervous about birth control. At age 20 my mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer, and I believe it was due to the pill. Because of that, I'm at risk of getting it too. AND I smoke. Therefore I'm kind of uncomfortable with taking birth control with hormones, and it seems that all birth control methods have some very not-fun risks to deal with. My doctor reccommended that I get an IUD [mirena] and after reading about it I don't think I want one anymore. I've considered the shot as well, but my doctor doesn't want me to be on anything that could make me gain weight because I gained 100 pounds in my pregnancy and even today I'm WAY above my BMI. I'm thinking I should just use condoms as my form of birth control, because it seems safest, but there will be times where we won't have any. So does anyone else have any reccommendations or experiences with BC? Okay first of all, I didn't come here to get put down by snotty stuck up wannabe know-it-all unintelligent and judgemental poor excuses for human beings. My main concern is blood clotting and cervical cancer. My mother has been pregnant about ten times hoping to have another baby untill my little brother was born and she only has four children. My little brother and I were the ones who she actually was able to carry while in remission, every other pregnancy she's had has either miscarried or been aborted because the baby wouldn't have lived anyway. I don't want to go through that, and I want to hear other people's experiences with successful, non-hormonal birth control. And I'm not a negligent parent, I have a smoking sweatshirt that I wear when I smoke OUTSIDE and take it off before I handle my son. And Purrell is my best friend. So yah, thanks for coming here to pretend like you know what I do with my few minutes during the day! Oh yeah - I don't plan on having sex again untill my period starts again. But I'm getting birth control in two weeks and want to know the pros and cons of differnt contraceptives.
Are there other methods of birth control.....? I am sincere when I ask this.....are there other methods of "birth control" (Not STD prevention) besides prescription drugs that your mom, grandmother, aunt or is there something that you have read or heard rumors of that you could share with us ? I would like answers that are "Prior" to the invention of modern birth control methods. Thank-you in advance for sharing your knowledge!
Is there a birth control method that wont make me moody? I've been on several types of birth control (Nuvaring, Patch, pill) and they all make me so moody and gain weight. I used to be on Depo and it worked great but it thins out your bones. Can anyone recommend a birth control method that doesn't have so many side affects? I've heard of the copper IUD, is that effective?
birth control methods what to do??? How long does the depo get out of your system i was on it for 3 months then moved to the pill took that for 3 days because it was to weird and now im off both its been about a week and 2days i been off birth control methods and i been on my perird for 2 weeks is this normal? i hate this thats the last time im taking this....
Getting married... Need birth control methods ..?? My girlfriend and I have been dating for about four years, and we have been having sex for about three years nowâ?¦ We have always used condoms + the pull out method for birth control (both methods used together)â?¦ and everything seemed fineâ?¦ However, now that we are getting married this month, this method does not seem to be right anymore. We do not want to have kids now â?? at least for the next two yearsâ?¦ and I do not want to use a condom anymore â?? at least not alwaysâ?¦ She on the other hand does not want to go on the pill coz she claims that it will make her fat and that she has relatives who took it and it ruined their hormone levelsâ?¦ First of all, is it true that birth control pills make the girl fat? Please explain. Second, what birth control method should we use? Note: her cycles are irregular so it's useless to countâ?¦

Birth control??? What is the best birth control method for women??? And i would like to know do women take any birth control before they go to their first night??? or does the husband use a condom or anyother methods???
Birth control? I'm extremely against having children. I hate the idea, it would be the worst thing that ever happened to me... I don't want them. I don't want to ever have an abortion, but if I got pregnant, I would. I've been on depo provera for almost two years. I chose it because it was the most effective method, but I have to stop after 2 years because of the bone density issues (which I do not have, and do not want to have). I need to change birth control methods. My husband would get a vasectomy, except that we don't currently have the money for a vasectomy. What method should I use? It HAS to be extremely effective.
Birth Control? Starting a serious sexual relationship; never been on any birth control. Condoms are a definate but i wanted to hear from different women which birth control methods they have used or suggust using.
Birth control? A very religious couple that has two daughters cannot agree on birth control methods. The husband wants to have a boy to carry on the family name, but the wife feels like her family is complete, and the wife also feels like her husband should have a vasectomy but he doesn't want to (she also can't use birth control b/c she had problems when she used it). What should they do?
Birth Control? Ok, so i have been on birth control for 2months. My bf wants to go all the way, if you catch my drift. is it safe? i know birth control methods arent 100%. but if he uses a condom and im on the pill the liklyhood of getting pregnant would be kinda slim wouldnt it? um...plz write back
Birth Control? Hi. I am a 17 year old teen mother, working full time and going to college full time. Obviously I cannot afford to have another kid. What birth control methods do you suggest. Abstience I'm sure is the most effected-but I'm being realistic here. I am currently on the pill but find it a pain to remember every day @ the same exact time. I've heard the IUD is great but my insurance won't cover it =( ANY suggestions? I want a birth control pill that will not effect my chances of getting pregnant again once I do decide to have another child (i heard the DEPO shot does that). Thanks! I don't have sex with other people. I am still with my daughters father.
birth control? Can anyone tell me what birth control methods they have used in the pass that they would recommand. Also, what side did they experience with it i should have added that i have tried orth tri cyclen low. It didn't agree with my body
birth control.? name two barrier birth control methods and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each.. its a homework. i really need help :-/
birth control? does anyone know what birth control methods are safe while breastfeeding??
Birth Control Methods? My boyfriend & I are currently using the pull-out method, however I know its not 100% effective. He already has 2 kids from a previous relationship & doesnt want anymore. Nor do I want any right now. We've used a condom(Durex) before but I got this irritation feeling afterwards so since then I havent pressured him into using one, (I know not very smart thinking) but I dont want to get pregnant. Before when we talked about precautionary methods he said that its not only his responsibility to worry about protection & that I should get birth control. This is true but at the same time Im not sure about the right types of birth control for me and the affect it will have on my life and trying to get pregnant in the future. I know ppl will say get rid of him since he wont use one but we really care for each other. Honestly sex feels so much better when he doesnt use one & this is coming from a girl's point of view. Is it fair for me 2 use the pill and he doesnt use condoms? Both of us are grown adults Im 25 and he's 33. I feel like he has good self control of knowing when he's about to cum and when he needs to pull out. But I dont want to soley rely on this method.
Birth control methods? I came off the patch, as it was causing my periods to be weird.. really, i was on my periods for 2 weeks ruining, so i took off the patch since november, i believe. Now i'm wanting to go back on to a type of bith control, as i am not ready to have children quit yet, even though i am married, if i wanted to have children, i would want them planned =) Sorry, so my question is what other birth control methods are there? Thank you so much xx

birth control methods?? what birth control methods are there that u DONT have to go and see a gyno or abstinence that u could just order online?
Birth control methods.? I have to do this assignment for school and it asks me to list four methods of birth control and how they work. Can you help me?
Why do people use different birth control methods as opposed to condoms? Isn't that messier? Why do many people prefer to use birth control pills with hormones, patches or sponges for birth control? I mean, to each their own, but I would think they would be a lot messier methods than using a condom, which is, ahem.. contained. This seems especially true with the sponge since you'd have to remove it "mess intact".. Sounds unpleasant to me. Background, I'm married and just use condoms right now. I've used birth control in the past for my skin and regulating my period since I had heavy bleeding and terrible cramps.. But I dislike taking pills and the hormones generally disagreed with me. We also use condoms because we feel they are safer than simply a spermicide, and also, a lot less messy.. Thoughts?
Non-Hormonal Birth Control Methods? I'm only 27 - have a history of blood clots in the leg (3 years ago). I used birth control pills for 10 years and no longer am able to. I've been using condoms ever since, but for some reason, something almost always goes wrong with the condom. (Usually ends up inside me). I know this is usually from methods and size of use, but it has happend three times with three different men. I feel like it has something to do with me and I don't know what I should use now. Any advice?
Birth Control? In your experience, what birth control method works best? And what brand? I just want some opinions, because I am needing to start birth control. I've been doing my research, but I still want other women's views...
Birth Control? I am going to the doc in a few weeks to get birth control. I just had a baby on Oct 21. I have NO plans of getting pregnant any time soon. I was on pills when i got pregnant. Can anyone suggest what birth control method they use? Proferrably something that may not cause u to gain too much weight. All suggestions are helpful. Thanks
birth control? I started birth control last month in march. i started my second pack, on sunday, my april pack, four hours late. on monday and tuesday I took it at the regular time and then on wednesday i took it an hour late. thursday morning i had sex wtih my boyfriend and the condom slipped inside me. do i need the EC pill or am i safe with my birth control method?
Birth Control? I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on a good birth control method. I've been using the pill for about a year and half now. The pill, unfortunatly, strongly effects my emotions. I started using orthotricyclin-lo and I'd go emotionally crazy a week before my period. So then I switched to a new one called microgestin and instead of making me overly emotional, this one takes away all my emotions so I end up acting like a cold hearted b*tch for the entire month. I hate having my emtotions controlled by a pill so more often than not, I don't take it for a couple days and I end up losing that protection. I hate having to remember the time to take the pill but I wouldn't mind at all if I just had a pill that I was comfortable with. I'm not comfortable inserting anything, I'm reluctant to get a shot because I heard those effect the possibility of having children, I don't want to wear a patch.... so that leaves me with the pill. Anyone have any good reccomendations?
Birth control? I am looking for a birth control method (other than a condom) that won't make me gain weight. I was very interested in Depo-Provera until I read that 70% of the patients tested experienced weight gain. I'm not obese or anything, I just don't want to gain any weight right now.
Birth Control? I am currently on Yasmin (taking it very regularly) and my fiance wears a condom when we have sex. How effective do you think this is? I know that abstinence is the best birth control method so if that is your answer then don't bother because obviously I wouldn't be posting this question if I wasn't having sex. Thanks guys!
birth control....? What is the best birth control method....besides abstinance. The pill??? The shot??? The patch?? Please explain!!! Also besides condom.
birth control?? i'm looking for a birth control method that will not cause weight gain, spotting, or skin problems (which the one i'm currently on seems to be doing, Seasonel). i would like to have fewer periods (or none at all) and still be able to have sex without a condemn without the (high) risk of pregnancy. i want to have children in the future, just not right now. any advice?
birth control? I stop taking yasmin in october ,and we stop preventing but nothing happend... now we decided that since i am going to start nursing school we are going to wait until im done with school. What birth control method should i used? i dont want anything that then later on is going to give me problems getting preg... any good suggestions please :) i had a misscariage nov 06 it was a chemical pregnancy, & also i smoke... that might be helpfull to know also... please help i forget every easy to take the pill! that used to be my problem! but i dont want to take something that is going to make gain 20 pounds and feel bad, and then ahve problems concieving...
Birth control methods ... a nughty joke ;-) - ratings pls.? Some women are gathered and the subject of conversation turns to sex and then birth control. The first woman says "We're Catholic so we can't use it." The next woman says "I am too but we use the rhythm method." The third woman says "We use the bucket and saucer method." "What the heck is the bucket and saucer method?", the others ask. "Well, I'm five foot eleven... and my husband is five foot two. We make love standing up with him standing on a bucket, and when his eyes get big as saucers I kick the bucket out from under him." And the question for this joke is - How tall is the bucket?? LOL
Birth Control Methods??? I am looking for a birth control method for me. I would like to see what other women are taking. Please tell me what you are taking and whether or not you like it. If you experienced a bad BC method please share that too! I am just trying to get as much information as i can so i will make a good choice. I do not plan on pregnancy for a year or two.
Birth Control Methods? My husband and I have been wanting to try for a baby in like Nov/Dec/Jan. If it happens sooner, we'd be elated, too. But trying to think logically, we're trying to buy a house and move and he's looking for a different job. A month and a half ago, my gyn put me on a stronger pill (I'm on a generic for ortho tri cyclen called tri-sprintec 28). I've hated it from day one b/c it made me moody. But she said to stick with it for 3 months.... Well, to make a long story short, I had every imaginable symptom of a heart attack earlier and went to the emergency health place and the doctor is very concerned that tri-sprintec 28 is either damaging my heart or that I might have a blood clot. We're still waiting on results of some of the blood work. But he told me to stop using the pill. It's kind of ironic though b/c i was going to stop using the pill in a couple of months anyway. So now my body can regulate itself. What is the best method next to the pill for birth control for a couple months? For those of you who cant read... lol.... The pill *is* causing my moodiness. It's not *just a woman thing*. Have you never used the pill? Within an hour of the first day I was on it, I was night and day moody. I've never been like that in my life until I started using this particular brand of the pill. And I posted this question because I can't use anything with hormones anymore (at least until they firgure out what's wrong). So Depo or whatever it's called isn't a choice for me. No pills, no shots, no patches, no IUD..... Dcnewco.... why don't you answer questions that you actually know about. The pullout method does not work. I can name 9 or 10 girls I know who've gotten pregnant that way within 2006-2008. And considering I'm happily married, abstinence is a stupid answer. PS- you spelled abstinence wrong.
Birth control methods? I'm looking for a birth control method that will work for me. I'm sixteen, and my boyfriend and I have used only condoms before, but I want to get something to me. I was looking into the Pill or something like that. I need something that won't be very complicated, or time sensitive, and something that would reduce periods would be great. If you have any suggestions, that'd be awesome. Oh, and PLEASE don't tell me that I'm too young to be having sex. If you're gonna say that then don't respond.
Fav Birth Control Methods? What is your favorite Birth Control method and why? Describe what makes it good to use. Also I am curious about the IUD. Thanks!!
Alternative birth control methods? I'm looking for a method of birth control other than the pill. I've been on it for over 12 years and I just prefer not to take it anymore. I often forget to take it, and that's just one of the issues! Now, I'm in a common-law relationship but we don't want kids yet. We always use condoms. Is there something else you can suggest to use instead of the pill? I haven't been pregnant before and I've heard that rules out the IUD. I don't want to get the shot or the patch. Spermicide foam? Anything? I've just moved and don't have a doctor. I have to wait 3 months to see one when my new medical plan kicks in. So, I can't ask my dr right now! Any advice would be appreciated.
What types of alternative birth control methods are available to me? My partner and I currently use two forms of birth control: contraceptive pills and polyurethane condoms (as I'm allergic to latex). Polyurethane condoms are proving to be a pain because there is very little variance in the sizes and can be uncomfortable in sensitive areas, even with lubrication. For these reasons, I'm curious to find out if there are effective altenative forms of birth control that I can us to supplement the pill. If you can help me, I'd appreciate it. Also, if you suggest a method, please let me know the statistics on 'fail' rates (number of reported pregnancies out of one-hundred, during use of said method). Thank you.
If I am scared of Available Birth Control Methods, should we just use condoms? We just had a baby and my doctor recommended the "Pull and Pray" method for us. We all had a good laugh, he is an awesome doctor. He told me about the Mirena but I really just do not feel comfortable with any of the Birth Control they have on the market right now. Too many things can go wrong. Has anyone felt this way and just decided to go with condoms or VCF's (Which we love and have had great success with)?? And before you say it, yes, I know that they are less effective, however, if I was to get pregnant again soon, we can afford another baby and we have a large family and both children would have just as much love as one another. There would be no issues, we just want to wait awhile before trying again. Well, I do...however, my husband and doctor think we should just wait 6 months and leave it up to God.
Birth Control Methods? Hi, I might have couple of questions here, if so ~ I'm sorry. My vacation is coming up in mid August and I know for a fact that I'm due for my period that same exact week. I do not want to get it, so I've heard and was told numerous times to take birth control pills but I'm not on them. I have only taken one concept of birth control in my life and that was about 10 years ago, which was the shot (Depro Provera) which I have gained A LOT of weight from. I have lost all of that weight now, which is great but if I get on the pill, will I gain all of that weight back? I'm only looking to take this pill for one month just to skip my period that month. When I do take the pill, to skip a month ~ how do I do that with the pill? Is there any certain pills that work or is there any certain pills that don't work? I just want to know so I can go to my OB-GYN and ask for the pills (like which brand or whatever of birth control pills), I'm afraid my dr. won't give them to me if he knows why.
Birth Control methods...? I'm not sexually active (although I am old enough to be). I'm just wondering, are there any good types of birth control (apart from condoms) that don't contain hormones and that doesn't effect sex drive? I'm talking about birth control only, not protection from STDs. Thank you! I heard they wont use the IUD on teenagers because of the risk of future infertility. I wont be using the withdrawl method, that's irresponsible. I'm on the pill at the moment, but it's a pain in the @$$. I've never forgotten to take it but it's a pain if I'm not home or something. I also have no interest in sex but I like choosing when I have my periods. The nuvaring sounds really good. I havn't really heard of it before, so I'm hoping they have it in New Zealand! Thanks!
birth control methods?? I'm a very fertile person. I have 3 children and bound to get pregnant again. My doctor recomends me not to take birth control because of my mom having breast cancer at an early age but I gotta do something..Please is there any birth control besides condoms that I can look into??
Birth Control Methods? I have four kids and am looking for birth control. I am actually thinking about getting the IUD. any personal experiences with it.? or any other form of birth control i have beed married for 5 yrs
Birth control methods...? I am 20 years old and I waited to give my virginity to someone I loved. I have been with my boyfriend for 8 months now and I gave my virginity to him 3 months ago. I can't imagine myself with anyone else. I am not on the pill but we use condoms. I would like to use some other form of birth control with condoms to ensure that we won't get pregnant. I know that condoms aren't 100% effective so I would like to add another brith control option into the mix. Does anyone have any suggestions besides the pill? I know there are certain spermicides and also sponges, what are the best and also not too expensive? Thank you!
Birth control methods? What are some different birth control options besides the pill, and what was your experience with them? Any side effects? Benefits?
Birth Control Methods? I've been on birth control pills for about 2 years and have tried 6 or 7 different ones. Despite all the trials I still haven't found one worth staying on and I'm getting to the point where I want to give up on them all together. Can anyone recommend anything (other than condoms) that I could use that wouldn't significantly lower my libido, give me severe mood swings or painful breast tenderness? Please send your advice and opinions! I just want to add that I know about the negative side effects of the pill and researched all of that before hand. Because I've never had health problems and don't smoke I opted for the pill. I also don't want a diaphragm because they aren't that effective and doctors don't even reccomend them that often. Please give me other suggestions. Thank you.
Birth Control Methods? I'm abstinate, but I plan to have intercourse with my boyfriend in the upcoming months. I want to find a birth control that wont make me gain weight and hopefully will allow me to stop menstruating.
birth control methods!!? so heres the thing, i am on the ortho tri cycline for birth control. i have a habit of missing my pills which causes my periods to get all whacked out. so i was considering either the shot, patch or a pill you dont have to take as often. if anybody can give me info on this please write! pro's and cons would be great too!!!
Birth control methods? I just recently started having sex, so I went on Orthotricyclen, which proved effective, but I had some terrible side effects from it. I started having anxiety attacks every day, hyperventilating, ADD, depression, mood swings, etc. My boyfriend found this very hard to handle, and so we've been having a lot of issues concerning that, so I switched to orthotricyclen low, which has a lower dosage of estrogen in it. It helped a little with the anxiety, but not much. I stopped birth control all together, and my anxiety and depression and all that has gone away completely. I talked to my physician and she said that I just have a strange reaction to hormones, but now she wants to try the depoprovera shot, and I'm hesitant to try that, since if it does affect me the same way, then I will be anxious and miserable for 3 months, instead of being able to stop whenever I want. I can't use condoms because my skin tends to break out and it hurts. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do
future Birth Control Methods...? does anyone have info on these proposed birth control types: 1) RNAi 2) pregnancy vaccine 3) Capnor 4) non-surgical tubal ligation using chemical plugs. also, any dates would be helpful
Are you Pro-life and use birth control methods? Physicians across America -- and around the world -- are now confirming that the Pill, IUDs, Depo-Provera and Norplant cause early abortions. First, a look at the Pill. Research shows that in many cases the Pill causes early abortions -- abortions the mother may not even know she's having. You may find this shocking, but the facts are clear after reading Randy Alcorn's book, titled; "Does the Birth Control Pill Cause Abortions?" I painfully agree that birth control pills do in fact cause abortions. There are so many doctors that say birth control causes abortions so if you are pro-life and are against abortion then how can you take the birth control pill, shot, patch, etc.? (By the way i am Pro-choice and do not see anything wrong with abortion) You can give me your thoughts on this and read the rest of this at http://www.prolife.com/BIRTHCNT.html You are not reading what the information says on birth control, how it causes abortions. I am trying to get a point across to all these people that claim they are against abortion but yet they take birth control and when your pro-life you are also suppose to be against birth control. That website is backed up by doctors. You all are not even reading the information correctly. OMG

other birth control methods? i have tried the pill and it makes me sick. so what else is there, yes i no condoms don't need to explain me that. also there is one that you inject some plastic thing into your arm and there is a needle too . but seein as i get sick i wont do the needle as that stuff lasts 4 3 months and you can't take it out. the plastic one you can. any sugesstions on what to take?
Best non-hormonal birth control methods? I've been off the pill for a while now - I just felt like it was time to take a break from all those hormones after quite a few years. Finding condoms kind of irritating and just not that great. I'm considering an IUD or diaphragm but don't know anyone who uses those; also I'm prone to yeast infections and read that the spermicide you use with a diaphragm can cause yeast infections? Appreciate any personal experiences or advice. Edited to add: I'm married and 31 years old, not hoping to become pregnant for at least another year or two. Thanks!
