  1. I personally wouldn't trust anything that messes with a woman's menstraul cycle. That is something that is a natural cycle in the human body, and I'm not sure that in a couple of years there wont be one of those commercials saying "If you took birth control pills and experienced injury or death, call this number.."
  2. Not advisable!!!
  3. Personally i wouldn't trust something that could mess with my cycle like that. I mean who is to say that i will get it back and get pregnant when i come off it. I am happy on the pill and only skip my period on the rare occasion. But when i get it the next month its like death. I am in so much pain and the flow is really heavy.. so i can only imagine if i took the other pill and then stopped. My next period would probably kill me. Periods are a pain but its a fact of life. I can deal with it
  4. probably not... but deep down you already sense it's another money maker for the pharmaceutical companies and perhaps five to ten years from now, the product will be withdrawn as further studies indicate that it causes blood clots, death, or some kind of ovarian or uteral cancer and by that time, they have gained huge profits due to people's susceptibility to buying pills of "convenience." and whatever monies that are awarded to those who have lost their health or loved one is just chump change to these type of captilalists. stick to less invasive methods and don't let those commercials or adds blind or bind you...
  5. It isn't overly healthy for you to try to skip your period, but Lybrel has so far not shown any overly negative side effects as far as your gyn health is concerned. The key word to this is SO FAR. The long term side effects are so far unknown, but the studies have shown that it hasn't affected fertility once off the drug. The most likely thing that I can say will happen is that you may see some spotting. That is normal & actually has a name for it (breakthrough bleeding). This should eventually resolve itself within about 6 cycles. If it doesn't, then it may be a good idea to let you gyn know, since it may be a sign that your pill isn't keeping you from ovulating (which means that you have a higher risk of getting pregnant). I haven't taken any birth control that supressed my period, but my older sister did. She had no major complaints other than a heaver period when it was time for her to have her period again, as well as when she went off the birth control. She did experience some moodiness, as well as periodic bloating when it would have been about her time to have her period.
  6. check out http://tcoyp.com/ and click on "sample chapter". there is absolutley no reason to have a fake period while on the pill.
  7. Lots of us wonder if it’s “okay” to not have a period — don’t worry — delaying or suppressing periods IS safe. Also, menstruation generally returns three months after you stop taking Lybrel. Lybrel is safe and effective in preventing pregnancy — up to 99.7 percent when used correctly. Women have taken cyclic (old fashioned) birth control pills for decades. The bleeding they experience each month is not “a period”. It is safe for most women. The birth control pill is the most studied medication ever. For some women – “letting the body be itself periodically” – can truly be a burden. Many women have terrible menstrual migraines and severe menstrual cramps. Shouldn’t they have a choice to avoid that pain if possible?
