Question about female problem? Birth control IUD?

I have the birth control called the iud in my cervix. I have been bleeding for 11 days and i just passed a blood clot the size of two quarters. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Well in the uterus or wherever. Anyway i have had it for quite a while about 3 years. I forgot to mention it is the mirena iud

1. Euwhhh. Go to the ER or gynecologist ASAP!
2. okay, first off IUDs (intra-uterine devices) go in the uterus not the cervix. but that being said, 11 days is too long. did you recently get the IUD? your body could be rejecting it or something. I'd call a doctor right away.
3. I don't have the answer, but I can tell you that you should go see your family doctor tomorrow if you can. He or she will have the answer.
4. I don't have any experience with that form of birth control but if you are concerned, call your doctor tomorrow and see if this is something common, or if you should get checked out.
5. Get to the doctor ASAP! It could be a number of things, none of which are good. The doctor can check it out and fix any problems but you need to go now! Take care and best of luck!

7. I currently have the Mirena IUD, i'm not sure which one you have; however I at times bleed for 2 weeks on and off (mostly spotting), which is normal for me I guess. I have no problem and talked to my doctor who insert it in and they state it could take awhile for my body to get use to it (I had it in for about 4 months). I have not had any blood clots since the insertion of my IUD; therefore I cannot state if it's normal or abnormal in my experience. If you really are worried and this isn't normal for the amount of time you had the IUD in you should speak with your doctor. I'm sure you can call them and talk to them over the phone and based on what you tell them they will tell you to come in or what to do at home. Side effects vary from person to person with the IUD, the best thing to do is to speak with your doctor about this if it seems abnormal.
8. Blood clots are excessive lining of the uterus which you shed once a month. However with Mirena it disrupts the lining in your uterus and doesn't allow it to thicken and if it does its minimal to where it would be a hostile environment. Mirena has hormones and this is what it does so with that said I would HIGHLY recommend checking your strings and going to the DR asap.
