What is the success and downfall to an IUD (birth control)?

I was wondering what the success rate is of an IUD what is the probobility of pregnancy while using one? what are the side effects or dangers? Thanks

1. I looked into the IUD after an acquantance told me it worked really well for her. The chances of getting pregnant are very small but the possible side effects don't seem fun at all. Check out www.webmd.com for more info. I decided to go back on the pill not only did the possible side effects scare me a little but the price is steap!
2. I have had a IUD for 5 years no side effects and you don't even know its there. I am older in my 50s but it nice not to have to worry as I still get my periods every month.
