- I tried an IUD many many years ago. It wasn't bad going in and it worked, but coming out, it hurt like heck. Maybe they do it differently now, I don't know....
- I had an IUD and it was great till I started having sex with mulitiple partners. Then it was horrible because I got PID over and over again. I had to have it taken out because I just kept getting infections. But if your monogamous its wonderful.
- If your in a monogamous relationship, are okay with the slight possibility of becoming infertile and have has at least 1 child go for it its the best thing! Like a previous poster said if you do have multiple partners you have the risk of catching an infection and its very hard to treat with the IUD in place so its not that the IUD causes them its just harder to treat and if not treated promptly you may become sterile. Its important you have had at least 1 child for 2 reasons 1. You are more likely to reject the IUD if you have never carried a child BC the dimensions on a uterus of a woman who has had at least 1 child is larger than that of a woman who has never had children 2. you may become sterile either thru infections OR at the time of removal very slim chance but you have to be warned b4 hand I have had the IUD for 3 years It was a breeze going in! Its very affective as effective as having surgery! Take ibuprofen both at the time of insertion and removal to ease the pain! I had mine inserted only after 4 weeks of having my 2nd child at the age of 19! so you can have it if your young and I did run the risk of having it expel bc of the fact I didn't wait the full 6 weeks but my body took to it. I spotted for 3 months esp after sex but have been period free since
