Pregnancy or Birth Control Side effects?

I have been on the NuvaRing since early January and have been fortunate enough to never have had any side effects from it. I had unprotected sex on the first, second, and third day of my last period (June 23, 24, 25). I put my NuvaRing back in on Monday (June 26). Wednesday (28) I got weird, sharp pains in my ovaries. Thursday I woke up in a bad mood. The only time the bad mood went away was on Sunday when I got to see my boyfriend for about 2 hours. I'm still in a bad mood. My breasts are very tender. Since Friday I have taken 2 hour naps and am tired every waking moment. I get small bouts of dizziness and have been eating everything in sight. I have an odd pain in my abdomen/pelvic region, it's a very dull pain unlike cramping. I need some advice because I know it's too early to test but I would love to know if I'm expecting. My next period isn't due until July 20th, so would a pregnancy test not say positive (if I am) until around the 15th?

  1. try an EPT test..they detect 5 days early
  2. Its never too early to test. The symptoms are right...but you could have also created them through your own fears. The best person to tell you anything medical is a doctor.
  3. there not a high chance u conceived since it was in the earlier days of ur period. see a doctor.
  4. not sure what to say but go to the doctor any way he can check you out and do a pregnancy test as well
  5. It is possible to concieve at any time during the month, including durning your period, becuase 1) sperm survives for several days and 2) woman ovulate at strange times sometimes, althought many forms of birth control keep woman from ovulating. Since you are experiancing discomfort and are concerned it is best to have a doctor check it out. Given the timing and pain you could possibly have an eptopic pregnancy, they are more common on birth control than during without.
  6. The majority of women ovulate 14 days before their next period starts. If there is any doubt in your mind about being pregnant, you need to avoid any birth control methods containing hormones as these can cause fetal defects. Contact your physician if you are concerned.
  7. Keep in mind that the NuvaRing does have hormones in it, and they very well may be giving you the sharp pains. I had that when I was on it. Same with the breast tenderness. Remember that the hormones in birth control are making your body think you are pregnant, which can explain side effects like these. Do take a pregnancy test tho, they detect pretty early on if you are indeed pregnant.
  8. if i was you i would go to your docs to see what they think and get your self checked over it will do no harm
