Has anyone else suffered bad side effects from birth control?

I had a stoke last year when I was twenty from using birth control. I have low blood pressure, low cholesterol and I don't smoke. What do you use now? I have endometriosis and my cramps are horrendous is their an alternative with no hormones or side effects?

  1. Try contraceptive sponges. They're fantastic!
  2. I would ask a doctor first but you could use contraceptive foam.
  3. You can use a female condom or try the sponge after talking to your doctor. As for the endometrioisis see your doc and get this treated.
  4. To treat the Endo, there's the surgical alternative, to have all the disease removed (see http://www.centerforendo.com for info on excision, the best means of removal), or you can try non-medical therapies such as diet & nutrition and alternative remedies. There is a great group for that discussion at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EndoNatural; also check out the book "Endometriosis: Healing Through Nutrition" by Dian Shepperson Mills. For contraception only, there's condoms, foams, copper IUDs, tubal ligation, abstinence, and of course coitus interruptus.
