How long did it take you to get pregnant after you stoped taking the birth control shot? (Depo Provera)?

I have been on the shot for about for years. I want to get pregnant in about 2 years.When do you think I should stop taking birth control?

1. I am not sure about Depo Provera, but with Ortho Tri-Cyclin Lo-it sometimes takes about 3-6 months to have your hormones go back to normal so that you can menstrate and ovulate. I know that when I went off of the Depo shot-it took me 6 months to stop menstrating! I switched back to Ortho TriCyclin Lo two years ago and when I went off of it, it took me 6 months to get my period at all! So my suggestion is, if you are fertile (no genetic problems) to go off of it about (give or take a few months) a year from now. Remember it could take some time for you to get pregnant and if you are trying to plan exact time schedules (good luck in that!;) ) give yourself some room for error (aka-no pregnancy) If you have been on birth control for a long time-it might take longer to get pregers-(depending on your body and its hormones) Just to let you know, this is what I was told from my OBGYN when I asked the same question! good luck!

3. For one, if your on Depo Provera. GET OFF OF IT! I'm serious. Your not suppose to be on it MORE than 2 years is what my gyno told me when I went to see her because my periods were so screwed up and all. I went to the health dept first off(bad mistake) Let's see.. I was off the shot for, I think almost one year before I got pregnant. I guess, it depends. I defiantely don't believe it when people say it takes you as long to get pregnant for however long your on it. Every woman is different. I hope that helps but, I'm telling you. GET OFF that shot.. if your on it. It's soo horrible. Now, that I think about it.. I HATE it.. and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.. EVER. Have a Merry Christmas!
4. I hate the shot. It screwed me up so much. I have been off of it for about 1 year and I am still not able to get pregnant and dont know if I will be able to again.
5. Used depo for 2 years. After the last shot, i got my menstrual back in 6 months and pregnant 1 year 7 months later.
