'Lybrel' is the new birth control pill that eliminates periods. Isn't that going too far?

- No, not if someone has a medical problem like endometriosis that can be made worse by having a period.
- ...depends who you are...some ppl want to feel that if they have to take a pill for contraceptive they want a monthly cycle like what is natural... ...those 28 day package cycles were developed over 40 years ago & have even evolved since with different levels of hormons in them...and are much safer now... ...a pill called Seasonale has been out for a few decades too...in has a package of 84 hormonale pills & then 7 placebo pills that allow your period...and a lighter period too...that gives you 4 periods a year instead of 13... ...if you need a contraception pill and have a job or are in a situation that a period is bothersome...why not eliminate them all together...as long as you are not trying to get pregnant anyway... ...i say no way to periods...if i dont want them...and its safe...!
- I think it is. Nowadays people are looking for ways out of things that happen naturally like periods. With few exceptions (endo for one) I feel that having periods is a healthy part of life. I've menstruated for the past 22 years (I am 33 y/o) and no, I don't like it, but I deal with it. I don't let my period run my life.
- Nope, it's an awesome idea. It's only out in the US at the moment I hope it gets to more places.
