Birth Control Question..new pill out called Lybrel??

I was online today and saw a pop up for a new birth control pill called Lybrel. After reading about it I guess you take the pill everyday for 365 days no placebo pill or non active pills (so no period) and you can skip your period for as long as you take the pill. Does anyone else seem to think it is not healthy to skip your period for six months or even a year. I would assume your body would need that or why else do you have them. Let me know your thoughts on it. Thank you in advance.

  1. Honestly... I would not use things like that, women have their periods for a reason, it cleans you out, and its healthy.
  2. I agree- it seems very unwise to intentionally skip periods. Birth control is unhealthy enough as it is. It messes with your body's own hormone balance. I think there are two main reasons for periods: 1. the wash out your uterus and vagina- especially important if you are sexually active. 2. The contractions (cramps) you get on your period are healthy for the uterus muscle. They keep your uterus toned so that you can have regular cycles and a healthy pregnancy in the future.
