Birth Control & Pregnancy?

I have always been good about taking my pills. On time, every day, but there is always that slim chance of getting pregnant. My question is, if you are pregnant and using the Pill does your period stop, or does it keep going like normal because it is not like a normal period in the first place? Also, if you take an at home pregnancy test will the results be altered due to the birth control pill?

  1. Your period would stop. Also the home pregnancy test wouldn't be effected.
  2. u shouldt get ur period and if u do it will prob be spotting. plus the bc will not affect the test at all. the test is looking for a certain hormone in ur body that is only produced when u are pregnant. i got preg while on the pill and i had no problems finding out. plus if u are preg and on the pill stop taking it and if u were taking b4 u knew it should b ok because they are some of the same hormones ur body will natually make while preg anyways.
  3. This is what happened to me..I took the pill religiously sametime every day. Last month I had break-thru bleeding 2nd week into my pills and 2nd week into July. Never thought anything of it really, it happens to me sometimes. Them my "normal" period was supposed to come at the end of my pills....it did just very very lightly, spotting even, didn't need a tampon at all it was so light (not like my periods at all really). Hrm. Did a test. Negative. Second week goes by in Aug (this month)...thinking maybe now my body is out of whack and it will come the 2nd week...nothing. Did a test. Negative. Still no period last week (still taking my pills btw) Did a test, Negative. Talking to my sister on Monday, she got her period, I always get mine 2 days before her..ALWAYS...did a test this monday...POSITIVE. So...when exactly did I get pregnant? Your guess is as good as mine. lol So erm, ya, you can still get your period while you're on the pill that's why some girls don't even know they're pregnant for a couple to a few months later :|....my sister was 4 months and on the pill before she found out with her second.
  4. Your period should not show up if you are pregnant but every woman is different (my grandmother had her period every month even when she was pregnant) and as for the pregnancy test it’s always possible for certain things to mess with your results unless it came out positive. There are NO false positives! If you get one then you are pregnant! I speak from experience… I’m 13 weeks and 2 days pregnant and I like you took my birth control pills like clock work but hear I am with a baby on the way! I was taking my birth control pill’s to regulate my periods due to me not having them often with out the pill. I finished my month of pill’s and like clock work I usually get my period but this time I did not. I took a pregnancy test and it came back positive. It was supposed to be hard for me to conceive even with out birth control due to my sporadic periods but I now I think my little surprise is an angel I thought I may never have the chance to have. :)
