Spotting for two weeks on Seasonale birth control?

I am in the second week of my third month of Seasonale. This is my first ever cycle of it. In two weeks I'll get my period. However, for the last two weeks I have had light to medium spotting. I am not using a back up birth control. My doctor said that when your spotting, your chances of getting pregnant are increased. I know spotting is normal on Seasonale but how long will this go on? I really don't want to get pregnant!!! Anyone else spotted this long on Seasonale? Does it eventually go away? Thanks for any answers!

  1. There's no real way to tell when it will end. It says that it's possible to have spotting or breakthrough bleeding the first three months on the pill, so it should go away when you start in on your second pack. However, there's no guarantee. If it continues much longer, or if it continues after your period, call your doctor and ask them what you can do. Best of luck.
  2. It is normal to spot while on a new birth control. One of the main symptoms of seasonale is spotting, but you should at least wait till your 3 months are up and then talk to your doctor about maybe switching to another birth control if the bleeding has not stopped. Always use a second method of birth control while trying new birth control. Try the new Yaz birth control I've heard it works really good!
