I started birth control only about 3 days ago, but since then i've been depressed and nauseus practically every day, more so in the morning. I was wondering if anyone else has been depressed on the pill?? I've never heard of it...

  1. I was severely depressed while I was on the Nuvaring. When I started taking the pill a few years ago, i got a bit nauseous for a few days. If you continue to feel depressed, stop taking it, and talk to your Dr about trying something else.
  2. Mood swings are a side effect. I mean you're pumping all these extra hormones into your body that you're not used to. It will take a couple months to get used to this change. So I suggest warning your bf/hubby or whoever ahead of time. LoL. [but this will get you off the hook for a little while if you're in a crabby mood. good excuse. : D ]
  3. I've never heard of the depression, but when I first started taking mine about 5 years ago I always felt nauseated, so they had to change my bc. But all b/c is different for everyone. Just talk to your doctor if it continues.
  4. Some side effects of the pill are nausea/vomiting, depression and mood swings. Apparently a significant number of women have these side effects because I usually see them listed all the time in literature.
  5. Yes, you may need to change pill types unless the depression symptoms go away in a week or so. Birth Control Pills actually make your body think its pregnant! Weird huh? If problem persist, see your doctor.
