Question about birth control side effects?

I just finished my first pack of pills which my doctor prescribed to help regulate my cycle. My period started yesterday and I had the worst cramps ever! I couldn't even sleep. Not only were they more painful than before I got on the pill, but they also lasted much, much longer! Also, I passed a lot of clots. My doctor always asks if I passed any quarter sized ones. They weren't that big, but there were a lot of them. Is this normal?

1. Many women are put on the pill to reduce cramping and PMS symptoms. I'm not aware of bad cramping and clots being a side effect of the pill but then there are many new ones out there since I took them....if you are concerned, call your doctor and ask (if the info you seek isn't included with the literature that comes in your pack of pills).
2. Omg i totally know what you mean. I noticed that my cramps were just as bad, if not worse than before. I also noticed that they started way before my period and ended way after. I didnt notice any clots but i've never really had them. I wish i knew what to tell you, other than i think its just normal. Hopefully it gets better because it suckss.
