Anyone on the birth control patch?

I've been on the patch on and off for about 5 years, this time I've been on it consecutively for over a year. Will this have any bearing on my fertility? I've heard that if you use birth control for a long time it is more difficult to conceive after you go off. I've been on and off birth control for 8 or 9 years now.. and I'm worried that when I do want kids in the next couple of years, that I'm not going to be able to. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

  1. birth control has no effect on being able to conceive. I was on birth control for 8 years and then I went off and on it for a few months, and the month I completely stopped I got pregnant. I did, however, have a miscarriage. I don't know why, and the doctor said it wasn't because of the birth control. But I would suggest when you do try to conceive, go off the birth control for at least a month and then try. apparently the hormones are not bad, but a lot of people say that you need to immediately stop taking it if you find out or suspect you are pregnant.
  2. no effect on fertility. may take 3-4 months to completely normalize but no long term effects on fertility with the patch
