- there have been some serious health risks with the patch, I would consider another form of birth control...it has already been pulled from the market once.
- Advantages: you could forget about it and not worry. and it is easily hideable Disadvantages: skin irritation around the spot, it gets dirty. it makes your boobs feel realy heavy and sore. like you are lactating or something
- These can also vary depending on what your preferences and previous experience with bc are. So the advantages are that because you're absorbing the medicine through your skin, you're constantly getting dosed, which means better efficacy and possibly some levelling of side effects. It's also helpful for women who have nausea with bc's. Also because it's not metabolized by the liver, it has less interaction with other oral meds. And finally, it's convenient. so, the biggest downside is that it is a slightly higher dose of estrogen, which correlates with an increased risk of blood clots, that can be very dangerous. Especially in women over the age of 35, who smoke or have hypertension. If this is a concern, you should talk to your doctor. Also, from personal experience, I have very sensitive skin, and would sometimes get pretty bad rashes from them. They always resolved, but this got kind of annoying. Also, it can stick to your clothes, so you can put a little baby powder on the outside after you apply it to reduce that. hope this helps.
