Mirena IUS (IUD) birth control- advice pros and cons?
Hey for anyone who has a mirena IUS, (just like the IUDs, if its a mirena its an IUS) but for anyone who has not had a child yet, what was it like when they put it in or took it out? Do you still have your period after having it? Explain your experience a little, I am thinking of getting one. Thanks

- it can if you have unprotected sex and you get a infection it can cause you to never be able to become pregnant and it takes 9 months for irregular bleeding to stop sometimes for 2 days of having it put in you can have painful cramps
- My doctor explained that it was for someone who had a child, however I don't know if you can get it if you haven't. I do have it and I am satisfied with it, however my partner sometimes says that he can feel it (the string) during sex. It does decrease your period, I would have it every other month now I may have it twice a year....but hey I can't complain!
- I have it and have mixed feelings about it. (I too do not have children, and don't plan on having them). It only hurt a little having it put in, and I have not had any physical problems as far as pain or mishaps. I did stop having periods, which was a little freaky at first, but I slowly became used to it. The freedom it gives my husband and I is awesome. However, I have experienced a 30 pound weight gain since getting it. I eat really healthy and exercise, but am gaining instead of losing. That part has been really frustrating. My OB swears that the Mirena couldn't be the cause, but I haven't had issues with weight before until I got this. I am pretty convinced that the Mirena is the cause. Otherwise, it's been a pretty good experience. Hope this helps!
