Has anyone taken the birth control pill Lybrel? If so, is it any good?

I've been on the Depo shot here for about 5 years and was told not to stay on it any longer than 5 years, to maybe take a breather. Anyway, I've gotten SO used to NOT having periods and was told of this pill Lybrel that stops periods as well as it gives less hormones than what other contraceptives would. Any input on this?

  1. It's pretty new so I haven't heard much feedback on it. If you're not into having periods then I recommend you try it, talk it over with your doctor, I think it's pretty low-dose so you could definitely try it. Another option is Seasonale where you have 4 periods a year.
  2. I strongly advise you to not take Lybrel or any other chemical birth control, especially those that stop you from menstruating or make you menstruate a lot less than normal. Recently I received an email about a woman who DIED because of taking Lybrel (a blood clot went into her neck, it had spread to her brain causing severe brain damage and eventually caused death) Remember that menstruation is not a disease, it is a normal function of womanhood. I guess you are looking for bc pills to prevent pregnancy, but there are also natural methods that prevent you from getting pregnant, without slowly or not so slowly killing you. I know most doctors don't talk much about natural birth control, but you can always look them up yourself. I'll include a link already for more info Success!
