Would you recommend the birth control shot?
Im supposed to go to the hospital in a fw days to get tests done for the birth control shot. Is it true that the shot will help clear up skin? What are the worst side effects? How effective is the birth control??? Thanks!

- It is a personal decision... I would not do that, but then I have no problem being responsible and consistant with birth control... I wouldn;t like the shot for myself because if I have a bad reaction, weight gain, moodiness etc. then you are stuck with it for a few months
- IF YOU GET IT WHEN YOUR TOO YOUNG IT STUNTS BONE GROWTH!!! they reccomend you dont get the needle unless its the ONLY method you can use. Can you take the pill instead?
- I would NOT recommend the shot....it decreases bone density and can really mess up your body..it is very effective but the cost (as far as side effects) is too high in my opinion
- The birth control shot has benefits. My close friend is on it, and the price is cheaper for her. Also, it is so convienent to only have to do it every few months I think. BUT, i have recently read somethign in a magazine article saying to be careful, that this shot sometimes causes bone loss in women. Your bones might become a little more fragile. (loss of bone density) I am on Loestrin 24 Fe birth control pills! they are great! My period only lasts 3 days. From a website:The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a safety warning with regard to the use of the long-acting progesterone shot. Studies link this shot to a loss of bone density in women, although bone density may recover when a woman is no longer getting the shot. Doctors are not sure how this type of shot may affect the bone density of adolescent girls in the future, though. So girls who are considering the shot as a method of birth control should talk to their doctors about it. Girls who are receiving the shot should make sure that they are getting enough calcium each day, either through their diet or by taking calcium supplements.
- No, it is a very high dose of medication that can have very serious side effects. I have heard nothing but bad things.
- Please do NOT get depo provera! TOO many women suffer horrible health issues because of the shot! Google "depo provera lawsuit" and check out its reviews at http://www.rateitall.com I was on it and I would never ever recommend this to ANYONE. Please consider other options. And, like all contraceptives, NOTHING is 100% except for abstinence. Women HAVE AND DO get pregnant ON the shot.
