  1. I got it at my 6 week check. It came out the first time she put it in but then she tried again and it stayed. They tell you you'll feel a sharp cramp when it's inserted but I didn't feel anything. I didn't get any complications afterwards and the experience overall is great. You don't have to worry about BC for 5 years. It's great! You should definitely get it!
  2. I tried to have one put in. I have had a baby so I thought I was a good candidate...in my opinion, the dilation to get it in didn't hurt, but once they put it in it really stung. Mine popped right back out while I was still in the doctor's office, and I opted not to have a new one placed immediately because I had gone in with the attitude of "If anything goes wrong, it wasn't meant to me" - the next month I was pregnant, so I guess it wasn't meant to be =P
  3. I use the mirena IUD for almost 4 years after I had my son before I had it removed. On a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 10. The insertion was about as painful as a papsmear. You do cramp afterwards for a few days. I never had any problems with it. Infact I never had a period. I never had to worry about taking birth control everyday. I was able to conceive 5 months after I had it removed. And I plan on getting it again after I have my baby girl here soon!
  4. I used several different types of IUDs. I had one of the last copper 7's. They always worked fine for me. I can't tell if they made my cramps worse or anything like that. I do know that when I didn't have an IUD, I did get pregnant twice. Those would be my daughters. I think that IUDs work well. I don't know for sure, but I think the newer ones are even safer. I have had two IUDs in about thirty years. As I recall the insertion was kind of intense, but just momentarily. I don't remember anything too uncomfortable in getting used to having it inside. If you get one, I hope it works really well and is not even noticeable.
  5. I got the mirena IUD 6 weeks after I had my daughter. I got it on Nov 5th. In all I really like it. It didnt hurt much when they put it in. Its like getting a pap smear. The only thing I dont care for is two weeks ago I got my regular period and I have not stopped bleeding yet. Its very light but still there. I guess I just have to let my body adjust. Other than that its been just fine. Good Luck!
  6. I had one in for about 4 years and will be getting it again on the 17th. I just had a baby on the 3rd of Nov. I loved it!!!! on a scale of 1-10--- 12!!! Insertion wasn't painful. No more than a pap test. It took a little longer, but felt about the same. I did have some cramps after, like contractions. I went back to work and wished that I didn't. The cramps lasted a few hours, and that was the only bad thing. I did have some bleeding after for about 2 days or so. Kindof like a period. BUT that was the last bleeding that I had the entire time that I had it!!! I had NO period! I had no problems with mine the entire time! You can't feel it at all. You don't have to worry about it while having sex or using any other bc so you can be ready any time and don't have to plan. No "oops" forgot the pill, or no condom. With it, you don't have the extra hormones that pills give you, so you don't have the moodiness, or weight gain. Go ahead and get it!!! You will love it!! Good luck with the new baby!!!
  7. I had the Mirena for 5 years, until last march! :) So, here are my answers...and if you have anymore questions feel free to email me.. 1. from a scale of 1-10 how do u like it It was a 10 for me... 2. was it painful for the insertion? Felt like a big cramp but it was over before long 3. did u get any complication afterwards? cramp, etc. There was spotting for the first 6 months but after that it was great. There were many many months I didn't have a period at all. 4. tell any experience that u had with it. good or bad I loved it, you don't have a ton of hormones going into you and you can totally stop having your period all together. The only problem I ever had with it was at the very end, when it was getting taken out, the string had somehow wrapped itself up around the IUD and it took the Dr a while to get it out, but it wasn't really all that bad. I would get another if I was looking for birth control.
  8. 1) An 11. It's perfect for me. The beginning was rough (see below), but I'm about 3 weeks post-fixing-procedure and I feel amazing now! 2) I've never had a baby, so all that stretching and pulling made it a 9. Plus, my genius doctor ripped my cervix apart instead of giving me anything to soften it (as previously stated, I've never had a baby, so it was awful). I had to have another procedure and a D&C to correct the damage. For normal people, I've heard it hurts very little. Maybe a 2 or 3. 3) I had complications obviously from having a moron for an OB/GYN. Don't worry. I can't imagine any getting any stupider than he is. The first day was rough for me. My uterus kept trying to reject it and those contractions had me in tears. The other pain from my cervix didn't help either. 4) I love it. Don't take my very rare case and think for a second that will happen to you. You've had a baby. Your body is prepared. Mine wasn't and my MD's procedure didn't help. I wish you the best of luck! I 100% recommend it.
