hello. i just got my 6wks postpartum check today and was talking about birth control options w/ my doc and he recommended me this Mirena IUD birth control for me, and i thought i would be great for me. so i was wondering if anyone out there have used/are using this birth control method. 1. from a scale of 1-10 how do u like it 2. was it painful for the insertion? 3. did u get any complication afterwards? cramp, etc. 4. tell any experience that u had with it. good or bad thanks

  1. I have the Paraguard IUD which is similar but it's copper (not hormone) based and lasts up to 10 years. I absolutely love it. When the doctor inserts it you'll feel some pressure like during a pap smear and maybe a little mild cramping but that's it. I'd definitely recommend it.
  2. I had the Mirena IUD inserted a few weeks ago. I took a pain pill 30 minutes before my appointment. I felt some light crampin during insertion but it was definitely worth it. It last for years and I don't have to worry about birth control. With any method of birth control there can be symptoms. Honestly if you don't like the IUD it is reversible- you can have it removed.
