Seasonale birth control and bleeding?

I've been on seasonale for a little over 2 years now. I usually should be starting my period on tuesday or wednesday, but i've been spotting since last sunday. i also have had a touch of the stomach flu for about 5 or 6 days now. I was wondering why i'm bleeding, if maybe the virus triggered it or anxiety, because i usually don't spot bleed. and at first it was brown, but now it's like somewhat dark red. i just wanted to make sure this was normal and there isn't anything wrong. Thanks.

This bleeding could be a side effect of the medication (heard about this being the case from the ads for this product that used to run on tv), infection, or stress (regardless of whether the thing causing the stress is good or bad). I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
