Pregnant on Ortho lo? or just birth control side effects??

I have took Ortho lo before for about 2 years and have never experienced anything like this before... I was trying to concieve for about 3 months and didn't so, me and my husband decided to wait... I got on birth control a month ago, tomarrow is the end of the pack and the begining of the inactive pills... I haven't been having alot of symptoms, I just get real sick every time i drink liquor, yesterday i drank some vodka mixed with cranberry juice and almost threw up and i didnt even finish my first cup! Could this be a sign of pregnancy or just the birth control side effects?? Please serious answers only! Thanks in Advance!

  1. I'm not quite sure honestly. Maybe your body just didn't want vodka... I was on Ortho tricyclen and I got pregnant. The pill isn't 100% affective. If you think you are pregnant, give it a few more days and take a test. Good Luck!
  2. Any time that you stop your BCP and then resume them again, your body has to re-adjust to them. Plus, you have to be on the BCP for at least a month before they can be 98% effective to not get pregnant. If I were you, I would stop drinking until you finish your BCP pack. If you do have a period and it is different then your "normal flow", take a pregnancy test. I would take one anyways just to rule it out or go to your doctor or those free clinic's and have them do one there. Just to be on the safe side. Do it after your period ends. You can also look for other body side affects you have.... tender breasts, a full feeling in the tummy, slight swelling in hands and feet and lightheadedness and dizziness when standing up. As a sidenote... once a couple stops "trying", end all the stresses of not concieving each month and the mood swings, that is the most likely time you will get pregnant. Just take things slow and it will happen. If you still want to get pregnant, quit your pills and just look at it as "if it happens, its happens and we are happy". Don't stress out. When I was seeing my OBGYN and a specialist, I was told by both of them that you need to be off your pills for at least a month to get them completely out of your system. I am not saying that woman can't get pregnant in that month, but it helps to give them time to clear out of your system. Another way to get your body ready and willing for pregnancy is to start pre-natal vitamins. The ones they sell at K-mart (their brand) are small, coated and don't taste like chalk! And they aren't horse pills... lol. Another way to see when you are ovulating is to take your BASAL tempature every morning before you step one foot out of bed. Go get a BASAL thermometer, put it on your nightstand and take it the first moments you get up before you get out of bed. What you do is plot your tempature and when it hits a high mark for several days in a row, that is when you are ovulating... There is a site that is really good called FertilityFriend.com. It helps explain this and even gives you charts to help you do this. I hope this helps.
