long term birth control methods?

Does anyone know of any healthy long term birth control methods that dont involve surgery. And what are the benefits of these methods.

  1. there are 5 year devices-some require that you have already given birth-because they need teh cervix to have been previously dilated there used to be an implant, but they stopped using it http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/features/long-term-birth-control-new-implants-patches.
  2. IUD -no remembering to take a pill or doctor visits for a shot -can last from 5 yrs to 10 yrs depending on which one you pick(can be taken out at anytime you want) -just one doctors vist to place it in and one to take it out -makes periods lighter or even dissapear
  3. Sorry, I don't think there are too many that don't involve surgery. One is an Intra-uterine device that keeps a fertilized egg from implanting itself, but though less invasive than getting your tubes tied, it involves a piece of metal inside you (ouch!) The nuvo (sp?) ring is prolly your best bet. Talk to your OB-GYN. She'll know what you mean. The benefit of this is that though it is drug-based, the drugs don't go through your liver, so it is less risky. And you only have to replace it a few times a month.
  4. I would check out www.mirena-us.com. I think it is great birth control. It is good for up to 5 years. I have had it in the past and i thought it was great. Check it out.
  5. I have a IUD and it is great maybe two periods a year and kid free for 5 years. No pain and just takes a office visit to put in. I recommend!!!
