Birth control...switching from the shot?

I have been on the Depo shot for almost 7 years. I want to get off of it for many reasons, but I have been so out of the birth control loop that I am not sur ewhat would be a good pill. I have seen Yaz, Seasonal, and Lybrel. Does anyone have any suggestions? I may be possibly looking into have kids in a few years and that is my main reason to stop the shot now but I don't want to completely stop birth control. Thanks! no but i will be having a bone density test done...that is another main reason to get off of it...

  1. Have you thought about the implanon? It is a small implant, about the size of a matchstick inserted into your arm. It lasts for 3 years. There is no problem coming off the implanon to have children. The minute it is out, you are back to normal. I fell pregnant 5 days after i had the implanon removed. The doctor mentioned that you will be highly fertile straight after removal. I am on my 3rd implanon now, and i love them. Certain people have had side effects with it, but every one reacts to different things. Just like i am unable to have the pill. But i think it is great. Just put it in and worry about nothing for another 3 years.
  2. Thank goodness you are getting off of it, have you had a bone density check done? I'm on Kariva (pill) at the moment and love it. No side affects like I had on depo provera.
