After giving birth, is it okay to start birth control before period starts?
I have a six week old baby and have not started my period. With my first baby my period started at about 4 weeks. My son is bottle fed. Can I start birth control? Will going on birth control regulate my periods again?

- yes you can
- if you havent had sex within that 6 wks(to rule out pregnancy) you are fine to start birth control
- you can start BC anytime after baby is born.Usually during prenatal checkups they will ask you if you have decided on BC and they give it to you in the hospital..well at least with the shot I had they gave it to me before I left with my daughter. As long as you are not pregnant you can take BC.
- You should be able to go ahead and start birth control as long as you are bottle feeding your baby.
- Yes you can start birth control now. My son was 18 days old when I got back on my DEPO shot. I was breastfeeding him and my doctor told me it would be ok. Talk to your DR and see what he/she feels is best for you.
- Even if you were nursing, there are birth control methods that are safe to use. You can start before your first postpartum period if you're sure you're not pregnant.
