When will my birth control start working for my irregular periods ?

About two weeks ago i started my birth control because i had irregular periods. I'm still getting spotting and I was wondering when the birth control will start kicking in and make my periods more normal.

  1. Give it a month or two and they should start working. It's wonderful you know exactly when it will start and end.
  2. Spotting is normal the first couple months. You should find that you have a lighter period - even the first month. This has worked wonders for me - I was bleeding heavy every 2 to 3 weeks, then I started taking YAZ and even tho I still get spotting it is NOTHING compared to what I used to get. Good Luck!
  3. Yes it will help regulate. It's normal for the first couple of months to have break threw bleeding HOWEVER, if this doesn't stop after 3 months call your doctor. He/she may need to switch brands and strengths. Most doctors recommend waiting 3 months to see if your body is going to adjust. But most woman become adjusted and stop the spotting after the first month. Once again if it continues call your doctor.
  4. Actually..it all just kinda depends on your body and how it reacts with it. I have been on birth control for over 2 years now..and mine is still all out of whack, and the doctor said it was fine. That is was normal...but I hope yours works well for you!
  5. they should become regular by the end of the last pack from your 3 month supply. may take longer for some people and a shorter timescale for others.
