Birth Control: How often are you suppose to 'spot' when you first start using birth control?

I just started using birth control a week and a half ago, on the same day my period started. I'm still bleeding but very light. Is it my period or am I spotting? If I am spotting, how often am I suppose to spot? Because it comes very day and I need to wear a pantiliner. Birth Control Pill

  1. Are you talking about birth control pills or an IUD?
  2. I was on the pill for almost 5 years. I spotted almost every month for a 3-4 days around ovulation. Sometimes it would last longer if I was sexually active. They tried so many different pills and tests to see why I was spotting but couldnt get it right. I stopped taking it 4 months ago and rely on another birth control method, condoms and my basal body temp. no more spotting. dam* pills, fu@#s up your hormones.
