Can a woman still get pregnant if she had sex less than 24 hours after having a birth control shot?

I'm sure this is a frequently asked question, but I have yet to find answers. It was my first shot. Depo is supposed to be effective in 24 hours. My boyfriend and I were short by 5 hours. How will I know?

1. You can get pregnant at any time, the shot is not 100% effective.
2. LOL yes....most birth controls (oral or other) take at least a week or two to be fully useful in your body, oral contraceptives take a month or two.
