How many women has gotten heavier periods after taking the Depo birth control shot?

I was trying to find out the odds of the Depo shot causing your periods to get heavier. So I was wondering for those of you who took it did it get heavier or did it go away? Also I'd like to know what you guys thought of it. This is a serious questions so serious anwsers only please. I've already taken the shot, but I didn't realize it could make it heavier until I got home and read the info. They didn't tell me.

1. My completely stopped but I think its different for everybody. As soon as I took it I didnt' have another period. Some people's wears off and I think some still have it.
2. It may get heavier or longer with the first shot or two; however as time goes on more likely than not you will not get a period or it will be very light (and unpredictable at times). It varies from person to person, but is a very reliable form of birth control and can be worth the first couple months of side effects. I am a OB/GYN nurse and use it myself and have for years. I would talk in depth to your OB or family doctor with questions specific to you; such as your age, reasons for using the shot, what to expect, and risks such as the increase in bone loss with using depo. 3. After my second shot I didn't have any more periods. I kept taking the shot for about six months and I didnt have a single period which was really nice! It was when I decided to get off of the Depo shot that my period lasted for two weeks. I picked the Depo because I am a smoker. I would talk to your doctor to make sure that you pick one that's right for you.
4. Women have had heavier periods while on depo and some women don't have any at all. I was on it for four years and I didn't have any periods. I had spotting at odd times as well as many other negative side affects. I was a moody witch, loss of libido, ugh, it sucked. So glad I'm off of it. Please reconsider the shot. It is horrible, has very bad side affects, and there are class action lawsuits against the makers of this shot for what it does to women. I would not recommend the depo shot for anyone. I was on it for four years and am so glad I am OFF of it. There are so many negative side affects. 5. I had spotting for the first three months then it completey went away for three years. It was pretty nice. But be careful with it it can cause bone loss thats why I stopped.
6. Depo was really bad for me. I had a reaction to the shot 15 minutes after it was given to me. Then for three months I had normal like periods. Then after I was supposed to get a new shot (I didn't because of my bad reaction) my periods were getting horrible. I'd bleed incredibly heavy for four days. Have a week off, then bleed again. That happened for about 2 months. It was scary and not fun.
