does the birth control shot stop your period during the first shot?

my doctor said my period would stop after the third shot but i've only had one and my period wont start...

3. it can but most people I know that have gotten it have bled more than they didnt throughout the month, or years however long you are on it. And if you ever want kids I would look into a different form of BC cause that shot will mess you up for good
4. I used the B/C shot twice so six months.and i didnt have my period at all during the time i took it..and after i stopped getting the shot my period didnt come for like 4-5months maybe more. I lost count. I kept thinking i was prego but its bc of the shot.
