  1. its normal with any new birthcontrol u take, i personally dont reccommend the patch but if it works for u then good, but if u decide to try something else iud's are great and are effective immediately and in some cases they also can cause ur period to stop altogether after a few months
  2. PLEASE don't use Ortho Evra! There are new studies coming out (and sadly most docs are not up to date) showing a significantly increased risk of blood clot (compared to other forms of birth control). The patch provides higher amounts of estrogen than other forms of birth control which increases your risk of clot and breast cancer. I've seen a lot of patients taken off this over the past few months due to this risk. If you're looking for something convenient and don't want to take a pill everyday consider Nuva Ring, Depo Provera or IUD. Some people LOVE depo (including myself) and some people absolutely hate it due to mood swings and weight gain. I've heard great feedback from patients about Nuva ring. The manufacturer says it cannot be felt during intercourse but some people do, overall though it has the least amount of side effects compared to all other forms of contraception. IUD is a great option also and has less side effects.
