Birth control... 16 year old?

I'm 16 & 2 weeks ago i started the birth control pill called Lybrel. I have been reading on this pill, i did not know that this pill was designed to eliminate my periods completely. My doctor did not talk about the pill at all whatsoever with me, she just gave them to me in a bag and told me to try them & call her back in 2 weeks. Well it's been 2 weeks and i don't know what to think. My period has not gone away, i've been on it for the whole 2 weeks. It's gross chunky brown blood. My forehead is breaking out in pimples, which i NEVER get, i have perfect skin. And i've read that babies have a high chance of being born with birth defects due to girls taking this pill. Should i stop taking it? I'm so angry with everything it has done to me so far!! Also, is the risk really that high of having babies with birth defects? That's my main concern..

  1. switch !!! QUICK
  2. If you are not liking the effects it gives you then switch kinds. I had never heard about birth control related to birth defects. A very LARGE number of women are on birth control for years and when they have babies they are just fine. I know my first is..and no signs any thing is wrong with the one I carry now.
  3. Breathe in and out very slowley and intake loads of epidoodles.
  4. If you are on the pill and you take it as directed then you should not be worried about having a baby with birth defects. The pill prevents babies. I have never ever heard anything about birth control causing birth defects. As far as everything else goes the pimples and all that...if it's doing this to you then tell your doctor you don't like the side effects of this pill and tell her you want to try a different pill. Simple as that.
  5. 2weeks! your supposed to be on it 3months as the side effects (if any) usually go away after that. how the hell are you supposed to know after 2weeks, thats not even a full pack! if i where you i'd go to a new doctor.
  6. go to a different doctor and talk to her about the pill your on. TELL HER about how the doctor didnt talk to you about it and ask her about it and tel lher you want a different one.
  7. LYBREL is the first and only FDA-approved low dose combination birth control pill you take 365 days a year without placebos. LYBREL provides the same low level of hormones every day — so for as long as you take LYBREL, you won't have your regular monthly period. You should also know that breakthrough bleeding and spotting is likely while taking LYBREL. However, for the majority of women this usually decreases over time. You will need to weigh the convenience of having no regular menstrual periods against the inconvenience of unscheduled breakthrough bleeding and spotting. 8. that is precisely why your doctor wants you to go on follow up after 2 weeks. its normal sometimes when feels don't work. probably your OB-Gyne will prescribed you a lighter birth control pills.
  9. It might be that you dont like it and can have a different pill so you should tell your doctor whats happening all about yur period and the spots and see what she says. She might give you a different pill or something.
  10. I think you should switch pills. I mean I was on the pill. It didnt work for me I mean really it didnt : | I have a 6 week old daughter... So change to somthing more natural good luck
  11. One, get a new doctor, and two, talk to the new doctor about the pills you are taking. What you are describing is not typical for women who are taking birth control pills. There's no sense in being angry -- just take control of your own body and take responsibility for what you choose to put into it. You've learned a valuable lesson -- ALWAYS talk to a doctor about any medication before you put it in your body!
