What are some good birth control methods for my situation?

I am a mother of an 8 month old boy and I really don't want to get pregnant now. I breastfeed so I don't want a birth control that will dry up my milk and I don't want a B.C. that prevents the fertilized egg from implanting because I believe that life begins at the moment the sperm meets the egg. We are kinda trying the Natural Family Planning Method, but it is almost impossible for us to not have sex when I'm ovulating. We do use a condom when I am anywhere near that time, though.

  1. I think the best birth control method may be spermicide.
  2. in my opinion, the condom is probably the easiest method without running the risk of drying up your milk. the spermacide is a good option too. but i think the condom is probably more effective. Just my opinon!! so glad you are breastfeeding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also, way to go for sticking with it for 8 months!!!!!!!
  3. Condom for sure. Another option is still the pill. There are quite a few different pills which are safe when breastfeeding that won't dry up your supply. Consult your physician for more detail.
  4. My hubby hates the condom (and I don't really like it either), so I used over-the-counter spermacide "films". They are these really thin (almost like paper) films that you insert right before sex. They are actually pretty effective, not messy at all, and neither you nor your DH will ever even know its there. I've tried suppositories and creams in the past, but they are really messy and they tend to give me infections- the films were great. You can get them at any convenience store and they are fairly inexpensive. Another option would be to use sponges (expensive and tends to cause infections) or get fitted for a diaphragm. Good luck!!!
