What birth control methods don't use hormones?

I've tried the patch, the pill, and the Depo shot, which all use hormones as a way to prevent pregnancy. All three of these methods give me nausea. So much so that it's difficult to function. Are there any other non-hormonal methods of BC besides the IUD or tubal ligation that are available for women?

  1. condoms many types
  2. No, your best option for non-hormonal contraception would be either abstinence (good luck with that one), or the Para-Gard copper IUD. I use the Para-Gard, have had it for over two years and it's working very well for me. The only side-effect that I experience is slightly heavier and longer periods. You can also ask your GYN about any other options, but I think that is the extent of it.
  3. condoms
  4. You could try condoms, a diaphragam (which I used for years, but now I have an IUD, which I LOOOVE!), a sponge, a cervical cap (much less common nowadays), can't think of any others right now.
