Good birth control method besides the pill?

I am currently 35 years old and married with a 1 year old son and we aren't planning any more children in the near future. Because of my age, it's about time for me to change birth control methods (currently using the pill). What are some good, EFFECTIVE forms of birth control? I do not want my tubes tied at this time. I have a Gyn apt next week but wanted to know of some practical experiences with other forms of birth control before my appointment.

  1. the rear 100% effective
  2. Other forms of birth control that are available is the use of a transdermal patch that delivers the same amount of hormone as the pill does. Another method is receiving injections every couple of months. There are other methods out there as well, but these are the more simpler alternatives to the pill. Why are you changing off the pill in the first place? Are you experiencing side effects? You need to bring things like this up with your doctor. It will help him better decide what the best course of action for you is.
  3. No method of birth control is completely effective, however, I would suggest condoms, his and hers.... Hope this helps = }
  4. I am on the depo shot which is a 3 month birth control. I have had no problem with it. Talk to your doc about it or read about it on the net. There is also the IUD which a 5 year birth control I have no clue about it I just know that it is inserted up into your crouch. i have a friend that has that and I don't think she has a problem with it.
  5. I'm on the Ortho Evra patch currently and its worked well for me I've been using it 3 years now with my boyfriend and no baby yet! The only thing I don't like about it is that it's visible. I wear it on my hipbone (you can also wear it on your butt cheek, arm or shoulder blade) and it stays on very well (you change it every week, three patches and then an off-week where you get your period) even through showering and swimming. The only downside for me is that I tan and it leaves a little square when I take it off!
  6. I have been on the Nuva Ring for a year and I have no complaints. It's really easy to insert, and easy to take out...also easy to remember to remove....I haven't had an issues with it.
