Can anyone recommend a birth control method that decreases anxiety?
I've been on Ortho-TriCycline for 4 years, and as of 5-6 months ago I began having formless anxiety a few days before and a few days during my period. Could it have anything to do with my current birth control, and can anyone recommend a different method that might decrease the anxiety? i did start birth control because i was passing out from cramps, all you abstinence people.

- total abstinence worked for me!
- From what the commercial claims...the new pill (Yaz) will do exactly that. You could always consult with your OB/GYN and see if that could help. Good luck!
- yaz
- Could be PMS. I suffer(some months more than others) from PMDD. It can be horrible at times. I"m on the same pill, but it actually helped me. Talk to your gynecologist about it. I'm sure there are other ones you could try that may not affect your anxiety levels. Good luck.
- abstinence...really, ya can't get preg if you don't do it
- I don't think that it matters what birth control you use,I have tryed just about all of them, anxiety is somthing totally different and if you feel like you have it you should see the doctor and they can give you something for it :)
- Yaz alledgedly has some effect on PMDD which can cause anxiety especially around your period. Almost all B.C. pills carry the risk of depression and anxiety so obviously if Yaz doesn't help then maybe you have to try a non-hormone kind. Also, it may ( and I am not saying this is the case ) be unrelated to your B.C. pills ( although entirely likely ) and you may need to start an SSRI like zoloft or Paxil ( even if you only take it around your period if that is when you notice the symptoms ) Anyway, talk with your Doc.
- GET THE F*CK OFF THAT TYPE OF PILL! that brand made me gain 30 lbs. within a few months and as a result of that I have stretch marks all over my body and I'm now stuck with. I'm only 18, never been pregnant and it looks like I have been. They are all over my midsection, my inner thighs, my inner arms, my boobs, my back and I'm never going to be able to get rid of them. Got to your doctor, I suggest trying Yaz or anything other than Ortho-TriCycline/Ortho-TriCycline Lo. I don't want what happened to me to happen to you, b/c believe me it sucks looking like you've had a bunch of children when you really haven't.
