Can birth control pills effect pregnancy?
I am on the verge of purchasing the birth control pills that my doctor has prescribed to me. Will taking these birth control pills affect pregnancy later on whenever i choose to be pregnant?

- Well if you're still taking them, then you probably won't get pregnant. Otherwise, probably not.
- itll take you a little longer to get prego but it wont harm you or the baby
- I hope so, otherwise they really aren't doing their job!
- Nope..pretty sure they won't. I know plenty of people that have gotten pregnant after getting off birth control, myself included =] They have had healthy, normal, pregnancies and babies
- Always a possibility.
- no it doesn't really do anything, just stop using them when you want to get pregnant and everything will be ok :]
- Absolutely not. In fact, since you aren't ovulating, you'll be more likely to have viable ovum later into life. Be aware however that fertility DOES drop the older you get, so if you do want to have a baby eventually consider the fact that after the age of 35 or so, it becomes harder (which has NOTHING to do with the pill or any other form of contraception...it's just biology).
- No. once you stop taking them you should be able to get pregnant in about a week or so! You have to be careful to take it just as directed or it wont work properly!
- it can take a little longer to get pregnant after taking these pills but usually no serious risk
- no duh are you stupid. what kind of question is that. your a bad parent
- No. You should not take them if you are or are trying to get pregnant. Talk to your doctor if you need more information. You should be off the pills for 3 or more months inorder for the birth coltrol to be out of your system so that you can have a baby
- No. I think you will just have to be off of them for about a month to get pregnant. And you can still get pregnant while taking the pill, too. There's alot of room for error unless you are able to take them at the same time every day, no forgetting and no interfering substances like antibiotics. Talk to your doctor with any other questions! Of course you wouldn't take them WHILE pregnant either. All they do is trick your body into thinking it is pregnant so it won't release an egg.
- I dont think they do, because I have been taking the birth control Aleese since I was about 15 due to menstrul problems, and when I got married, I decided to go off the pill and right when I did, like 3 months later, I was pregnant. I have been taking these pills almost my whole life and it has never affected me in that way and also my gyno doctor said that it doesnt cause problems, but everybody is different, but for me, it didnt cause problems and I am actually back on them since my pregnancy I had wound up as a miscarriage.
- It depends how long you take them for. The longer the hormone is in your body the harder it becomes for you to get pregnant. If you choose to get pregnant in a year, no problem! In 5 years, it may take a while. Good luck!
- When we decided to start trying to get pregnant i stopped taking my pills, and got pregnant the next cycle, had a beautiful healthy baby boy last august. GOOD LUCK.
- There is no studies done on BC long term. people women are finding out that after using them long term that they are having a very hard time getting pregnant. Remember when you take a bith control pill you are changing the chemical and hormonal balance of your entire body and reproductive system. Too much of anything is bad. I would suggest not using them myself, and definatly do not take the shot or the pill that only allowes you to have 2 or 3 periods a year.
- Birth control pills do not affect future pregnancies. BC pills contain estrogen and progesterone which thickin the mucusy lining in your uterus. So if an egg does become fertilized it cannot attach to the uterine wall. When you stop taking BC pills, the mucus goes back to its normal thin state and you can get pregnant! I learned this from a biology class in college.
- You can take them, but most doctors will tell you, and i suggest you go back and get clariffications on the subject, that you get off the pill 3 to 6 months before you plan on getting pregnant. This of course doesn't mean you couldn't get pregnant the day after you've stopped taking them. They say 3-6 months so that all the hormone remnants sort of "clear out" of your body. See your Doctor !!
- I think they do. Although there is no research to back it up, I only have my personal experience. I had my son when I was 20 years old, and had never been on any type of birth control. After he was born I went on the pill. When he was 8 months old we decided to try for another baby. I got pregnant the first month off my pills but had a miscarriage. So we decided maybe it was a sign to wait awhile. I went back on the pills for 3.5 years, and just came off of them last May. We have been actively trying since then, and I haven't gotten pregnant yet. I know we aren't missing my ovulation because we have sex every other day. I'm not sure if it's the fault of the pills, but they seem to be the most likely culprit.
