What happens if a woman continues taking her birth control pill well into a pregnancy and was unaware that she was pregnant?

  1. Her fetus will explode.
  2. It could cause harm, if not abort, the baby. If she knows that she is pregnant, she should stop taking the pill, and see a doctor.
  3. I was on the ortho-evra patch when I found out I was 11 weeks pregnant. The patch is like the pill and the baby was fine, no side-effects- he's a healthy 3 and a half year old now.... A doctor had mentioned that he may have webbing on his fingers or toes but he never did...
  4. it could cause birth affects do the baby & may affect haveing a second child if they decide to have another so id get off it asap if i were in the situation
  5. Well considering the "Morning After Pill" is a high dose of the same hormones as the birth control pill and is used for early termination of pregnancy....I would say that this is a pretty serious issue. Depending on how far into the pregnancy she took the pills repercussions could range from preterm labor or miscarriage to various birth defects. Now on the other hand I am sure she is not the only person that has done this and others have had healthy full term babies. If she is truthful with the OB/Gyn they can run the appropriate testing such as ultrasound and blood levels to eliminate your or her fears. Good luck!
