Who has used the Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch?
I have been told by some people that even when used properly, they know a lot who have become pregnant. Did it work for you, when it was your only form of birth control? Also, I read on the leaflet that it came with that it is 99% effective. Isnt the birth control pill 99.9%?

- I used the patch and LOVED it!! It better than taking a pill everyday! I was on it for two years and never had a scare. I took it off when I wanted to get pregnant and a couple of months later, I did. I put it on the lower part of my stomach and alternated sides each week. I thought it was incredibly easy and it was effective for me. And yes, it was our (my husband and I) only form of contraceptive.
- I used it and loved it. I didn't get pregnant while using it. After my insurance dropped it I was forced to change. I went through 3 different other types with bad side effects before finding a pill that would work for me. I have since gone off bith control to get pregnant but when I do go back I plan on getting back on the patch as I now have my husbands insurance.
- I've used it for about 6 months, then switched to a cheaper form of bc once I started college. In my experience, it was easier to remember and less stressful than taking the pill, but the patch usually didn't want to stay put! Towards the end of the week, corners would peel, and sometimes I went through a whole day only to discover that the patch was peeled halfway off. This effects how much medicine your body is getting, and how effective it is. Personally, I would use a different form of birth control.
- The patch has a lot of side effects but all forms of birth control do and no matter what form of birth control you use you should still use a condom... i used the patch for about a year and all of the sudden on the second week of my patches i started hemerrhaging.. thats what i call it... this may sound gross and like to much info but i want you to be carefull..... i started bleeding from down there so bad that as soon as i put a tampon in the blood would just pour out... like i was peeing..... so i ended up at the hospital.. lost a lot of blood but ok.... the i tried the nuva ring... it was uncomfortable for my boyfriend and came out while haveing sex... didn't trust it.... so i got an IUD.. it is suppose to be in place for 5 years and one of the most effective forms of birth control.... about a year after i got that i got pregnant....... apperantly it was knocked out of place during sex and my body expelled it like giving birth and i didn't realize what happen.... i had a lot of cramping and pain but didn't know that i had lost my iud i miscarried because they did a surgery to remove it and it wasn't there and they disturbed the pregnancy... no birthcontrol is 100% if you know you don't want to get pregnant use a back up.... like condoms.... i am currently 37 weeks pregnant with my second and last child.... i decided to get my tubes tied....:-) just be careful and good luck on your decision.... ps.... you sould use a condom just to protect your self from std's it seems like there is a new one popping up all the time hope i could help....
