What's the difference between IUC and IUD birth control?

thank you! I thought they were the same but I didn't know if IUD was considered the Copper one only and IUC was the plastic.... I am doing research on mirena since I am finished my last pack of birth control pills this month and would like to try something new!

1. I believe they are the same thing. Mirena comes up under IUC and IUD. You can put your search engine to work, as I did, and take a look but it appears they are 2 ways of saying the same thing.
2. They are the same thing. I think it depends on where you live on what it is called. I have Mirena IUD and love it!
