Can You Have A Period On Lybrel Birth Control?

I would rather have a period using Lybrel than not - just to reassure myself that I'm not pregnant. Can I take Lybrel for the 21 - 28 day cycle, quit and have a period and then resume the birth control? Also, do I need additional birth control during the first 7 days again, or is it going to protect against pregnancy immediately again? Many thanks!

1. I can't find a source that educates either way regarding taking a withdrawal bleed while on Lybrel. Call your doctor and ask! If the doctor says that you are protected if you take 21 days of active pills and then take a 7 day withdrawal bleed, you should not need to use back-up protection during the first 7 days after your withdrawal bleed week.
