How often do you spot/bleed on birth control?

I recently started the pill Lybrel and a week and a half ago I spotted a little. Now I am bleeding like a normal period, is this normal? If anyone knows about lybrel or has taken lybrel before any information would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I'm a nurse and work for an OBGYN, it's very normal to have breakthrough bleeding or spotting during the first 3 months after starting any type of new birth control, your body has to adjust to the hormones, so give it time, remember to take your pill at the same time everyday, if your bleeding isn't improved by the 3rd month then call your OBGYN, or if it becomes heavy (soaking thru a pad every hour) then call OBGYN/go to Emergency Room.
  2. i would have to say it all depends on your body how it reacts to the pill. if you have any questions i would just call your doc who have you the pill and ask them or the nurse
