How long does birth control stay in your system?
My husband and I are trying to have a baby. I was on birth control for two years and stopped taking it about two months ago. So far, we haven't had any luck. How long does is typically take for the birth control to completely leave your system?

- However long it take you to get your period. After that you might not have a regular schedule right away but that's the effect of having a regular hormone for so long, not the birth control lurking in your system.
- i believe my doctor said 30 days. after i got off birth control she wanted me to have 3 cycles before we tried to conceive, it took us a year to get pregnant because i wasnt ovulating and would go 2 or 3 months at a time with no period. i kept having to take medicine to make me start. be prepared for it to take awhile for your system to adjust. good luck!!
- I am not sure about how long it stays in your system. I would suppose it's a short stay because if a woman is inconsistent with her BC pills she can get pregnant. Therefore, I assume it could now that you could get pregnant. However, it does differ from couple to couple. It can depend on age, health, fertility and ovulation timing. There are many ovulation kits available otc. Relaxing and not concentrating on getting pregnant but enjoying each other in love give better chances as well. Wish you the best
- It all depends on your body. I quit taking my bc in August and when my period didn't come by September I tested and low and behold, I was pregnant! I was on bc pills for 2 yrs prior. If you think about it, you only have about 3 days/month to conceive so it's trickier than you think : ) Try and ovulation test kit, they work like pg tests and are really accurate (had my 1st baby with one : ) Good luck and be patient!
- The hormones from your birth control pills (did you take pills?) are out of your body as soon as you stop taking the pills. However it may take your body to adjust and another 2-8 weeks on average for ovulation and your periods to return to normal.
- The BC leaves your system quickly.. it's our hormones that take awhile to get used to working all by themself! It took me two months to get my period after stopping birth control... I finally just made it through my first full cycle after BC. I'm pretty sure it just depends on the person! My mom went off BC and the next month got pregnant w/ my older brother. Good luck!
