How can you tell if the birth control shot is working for you?
I got the birth control shot from my doctor about a month ago, and it only takes 2 weeks to become effective. I haven't noticed any side effects and I was just wondering, is there any way to be certain that your birth control shot is working? Besides not becoming pregnant, because then its obvious that its not working...

- Unfortunately, there really isn't any way to double check. Side-effects are not an indicator that a medication is working for you, though. Some women, unfortunately, do ovulate while on the birth control, but I'm sure many of them experience side-effects. I've been on my birth control with absolutely no side-effects and absolutely no babies for the time I've been on it. If you're not comfortable with the risk level of unprotected sex while on Depo, you could consider using a back-up method in addition to the shot (condoms or withdrawal, for example). Depo is designed to be a woman's sole form of birth control, but like with any birth control, there is a chance for failure, so you need to decide what level of risk you can be comfortable with.
