do birth control pills make you moody when you first start taking them?
i just started birth control pills a few days ago and i have been moody and sensitive about everything lately. is it the pills and will this stop after a while? or does it have nothing to do with them? i was also wondering does anyone find it harder to get turned on while on the pill? and will i gain weight b/c of the pill?

- It all depends on the person, all of it is possible. Most bc releases hormones
- yes because pregnancy gives you mood swings so does birth control pills
- Not just when you start taking it, but for as long as you're on it. Its a known side effect that while your on oral contraceptive medication it can often intensify mood swings, especially before or during your period. I'm not aware of any significant side effects involving reduced libido, but weight gain is also a known side effect.
- Get very intense mood swings since taking the pill especially during that time of the month.I guess it all has to do with the fact that these pills contain hormones that are telling your body you're pregnant. I gained 15 pounds since being on the pill. But i guess that's better than being pregnant.
- I am currently taking Kariva and I wasn't moody when I started them, they are actually suppose to regulate your hormones which causes the mood swings. My sex drive hasn't changed since I have been on my pills. The side affects of your particular pill should come with your prescription. It will tell you the different things to look for as a result in taking them. I have not gained weight with my pill but I have seen people gain. It all depends on your individual body. If you notice change you can request for another brand.
