Would birth control pills help my undiganosed pcos?
I've never been diagnosed with pcos, but I am planning on going on birth control pills. If I do would the pills help my symptoms?

- While it may not cure it, it can definitely help with the symptoms. Birth control pills keep your period regular (irregular periods are a symptom of PCOS), they can greatly reduce the risk of ovarian cysts (another symptom, as you know) and they can also prevent certain types of ovarian cancer. So yes! But if it's undiagnosed, maybe you should tell the Doctor anyways? Good luck!
- It can help, but you will still need to be treated for PCOS all the same. PCOS isn't an ovarian problem--it's a metabolic problem and the ovarian problems are symptoms of the metabolic problem, which needs to be addressed.
- If you truly have PCOS the birth control will only mask the symptoms and will not treat it. Yes, BCP will make you have regular periods, but as soon as you stop the BCP you will go back to the way you were before starting the BCP. If you have PCOS and aren't trying to get pregnant you should take BCP and metformin (at least 1500mg per day). You should get tested to see if you have it. Good luck:)
