Where can I find information on types of birth control pills?

I have PCOS and can't handle the symptoms anymore. I want to get pregnant, but not for another year. I would like to go on a birth control pill to manage the pcos, but what types are avaiable. Is there a pill that's better to use for women with pcos? Is there a pill that helps manage/lose weight? Where can I compare different pills? Thanks!

  1. if you look it up on google, there are usually some sites on there that will help you caompare and choose the right one for you. thats what i did.
  2. Check out http://forallbirthcontrol.info for basic info, also you could talk to a practitioner at your local planned parenthood branch. If its really serious you should talk to your PCP or a gynaecologist
  3. "In the case of PCOS, the extra estrogens from the pill will result in an increased binding (inactivation) of any excess testosterone from the polycystic ovaries as well as suppress some of the testosterone production from them. With PCOS you would avoid a pill with increased androgenic (testosterone-like) activity and do better with one with higher estrogen levels." -- http://www.wdxcyber.com/ncontr13.htm (The site has a chart showing the hormonal content of different brands of pills.)
