How long does it take for birth control pills to get out of your system?

I went off birth control pills in April 2006. How long does it take for them to get out of my system before I can get pregnant? We've been trying since I went off in April but so far no luck. My hubby says "no" to Clomid and any fertility treatments (he's got some ancient ideas in his thick head).

  1. Probably only a couple of days after you stop taking the pill.
  2. The birth control pills should not still be preventing pregnancy for you. Because even missing a day or two while taking them can render them completely ineffective for the month, there's no way they would have a residual effect for seven months. Depo & IUD's are different, having lasting effects that can prevent conception for months, but the pill is probably not your problem.
  3. everyone's body is different it could take a day or two or it can take months. Just try having sex EVERY 2 DAYS and see what that does for you to help. BEST WISHES
  4. Both of my kids were conceived in my first month off BC pills. The tricky bit is that BC pills can mask any signs of infertility or cycle irregularities that you might have had. So people often blame not getting pregnant on the pill, but the truth is you might have had trouble anyway, pill or no. A doctor won't consider you guys to be having fertillity issues until you've tried for a year with no success. So hang in there, and have fun trying.
  5. I've been on the pill for 11 years and I'll be trying next year. My doctor told me to be off the pill for at least 2 months before trying and that if I wasn't pregnant 6 months later, go see him.
